FIRE UPDATE: Thu., Aug. 13, 2015, Morning

The County Line 2 Wildfire has blackened hills in the Agency Area of the Warm Springs Reservation and smoke hangs over the community this morning.  As of 11:30 PM last night (Wed 8/12/15) all road closures on the Warm Springs Reservation were lifted. All roads are open this morning and Tribal Offices are on their regular schedule.

All evacuation notices were moved to level one before midnight last night and all residents in the affected communities were allowed to return to their homes.

Warm Springs Public Safety reminds all community members to drive carefully and be aware of fire equipment, public safety and fire management personnel that will continue to operated throughout the reservation today.

The fire was estimated at 9000 last night and stretches from Sidwalter – up County Line Road to Mill Creek, down toward Shitike Creek near the Agency area.  It scorced ground toward the Upper Dry Creek subdivision where back burning help halt the fire’s advance on homes.

Additional resources are arriving in Warm Springs this morning for both structure protection and also for battling the wildfire’s advancement.  Everyone in the community should stay aware of their immediate surroundings in case of any changes in fire behavior.

Fire & Safety and the Warm Springs Police Department personnel remind the public that there are three levels of evacuation notice that are used during wildfire situations.  They are:

  • Level 1 Notice – Be advised there is a fire.
  • Level 2 Notice – Be prepared to leave.
  • Level 3 Notice – Evacuate.
