A confirmed case of measles was identified January third in a Portland hospital, and that person had spent time in The Dalles and Hood River between December 26-31. Measles is a highly contagious disease with the potential to cause significant health complications. Fortunately, due to very high vaccination rates in Oregon, cases of measles are rare. Most Oregonians have been vaccinated against measles and their risk is low. Risk may be higher for unvaccinated persons who may have been exposed at one of these locations: December 29 at The Discovery Center in The Dalles, December 30 at Doppio Café, Goodwill or Full Sail Brewery in Hood River on December 30 or Fred Meyer in The Dalles on December 31.
