Senator Ron Wyden has postponed his town halls for Jefferson, Crook, Deschutes, Jackson and Josephine Counties. In a press release, it says expected Senate votes this week are shortening the congressional work period. These town halls will be rescheduled. The Jefferson County Town Hall was scheduled for this Saturday.

Data show that 11 people were killed in Oregon in 2017 in crashes involving drivers who had a blood alcohol level between the current legal limit and a proposed lower limit. The Oregonian/OregonLive reports state Senate President Peter Courtney has proposed legislation to lower Oregon’s 0.08 blood alcohol level limit to 0.05. The Salem Democrat says his bill isn’t about limiting drinking, but it’s about changing the state’s culture to stop drinking and driving.

The Lady White Buffalo basketball team Played neck and neck with Gladstone at the Buffalo Dome last night until the fourth quarter when they pulled away for a 70-54 win.

The Dufur School District is one of a dozen across the nation benefiting from a gift from Google. The students in that district spend several hours every day on school buses and live in areas where high-speed internet is not always available. Google is providing them with what amounts to rolling study halls.  The buses are equipped with internet, devices and onboard educators. Google began the program to help rural students level the playing field with their city-dwelling peers. “Seventy percent of teachers assign homework that requires internet, and about a third of students don’t have access at home,” Google rep Eric Sanchez says.
