The Warm Springs Construction Enterprise will begin the Sunnyside Road Grade, Relay and Pedestrian Pathway Project tomorrow. While the work is done, sections of Sunnyside Drive will be closed. August 20-October 4 Sunnyside Drive from Tmsh St. To UDC Rd will be closed. October 7-November 8 it will be closed from Tmsh St to Salmon Drive. The Warm Springs Early Childhood Education Center will open tomorrow for currently enrolled daycare children. ECE is taking applications for families to apply for the Child Care Development Fund. You can find out more information about CCDF at a public meeting today at noon at ECE. Questions about the new rates for childcare can be directed to Nancy Mendez, Support Services Coordinator at ECE.

For the first time, presidential candidates are gathering this week to discuss Native American issues today and tomorrow during the Frank LaMere Native American Presidential Forum in Sioux City, Iowa. LaMere, who passed away in June, was a well-known Native civil rights activist from the Sioux City area. As a nonpartisan event, all major Democratic and Republican presidential candidates have been invited to participate in the forum. Over the two days, each candidate will make an individual appearance and respond to questions from panels of tribal leaders and Native American youth. Each panel will be moderated by Indian Country Today Editor Mark Trahant. Today’s candidates are Marianne Williamson, Elizabeth Warren, Amy Klobuchar and Steve Bullock. Tuesday’s will be Joe Sestak, Mark Charles, John Delaney, Kamala Harris, Julian Castro, Bernie Sanders and Bill de Blasio. The forum is being streamed live at https://vimeo.com/fourdirectionsvote.
