A new Cultural Class is being held weekly. Class is open to community members, employees and defendants with the Tribal Court to use as an alternative sentence. Classes are 5:30 until 7pm Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the basement of the Education Building.

·   On today’s Tribal Council Agenda: A work session about the Port of Arlington, and the Adam Walsh Act and Ordinance 91.
·   Jefferson County Library Youth story times are today in Madras. Toddlers story time is at 10:10 this morning follow by Pre-School at 10:30 and Elementary Kids story time is at 6:30 this evening. Spanish Story time for kids is tomorrow at 1pm.
·   Community Counseling offers the Red Road for youth program today from 4:30-6:30pm in the upstairs lecture room at The Counseling Center.
·   The Diabetes Awareness Dinner is tonight from 5-7 at the Warm Springs Senior Center. This month’s topic is “Moving Those Muscles” and on the menu is Ham, Red Potatoes and Stir Fried Cabbage.
 
Wednesday 3/17
·   A reminder to parents - tomorrow is a late start day for 509j schools. Buses will come 2 hours later than usual and school starts 2 hours later than usual.
·   Warm Springs Nation Little League registration will be conducted by the Recreation Department tomorrow from 10am until noon at the Warm Springs Administration Building, in the Lobby and then this afternoon 1:30 until 3:30 at Warm Springs market. Thursday they will return to the Warm Springs market from 2 til 4pm.
·   Oregon’s 9 federally recognized Tribes meet tomorrow at Kah-nee-Ta
·   The Warm Springs Diabetes program will hold Water Fitness Class at the Kah-Nee-ta Village Pool Wednesday at 10:15.
·   Dr Thomas Manning will be retiring from I.H.S. on April 1st. Everyone is welcome to celebrate his service in Warm Springs tomorrow from 1 until 2:30pm in the Health and Wellness Center Atrium.
·   Tomorrow is Warm Springs Diabetes Alert Day. A Walk for Diabetes will be held from campus to the community center. There will be risk tests, education, plus a nutritious snack. The Walk starts at noon at the Diabetes Prevention office next to the Family Resoruce Center in Warm Springs. Walkers get a t-shirt for doing the risk test.
·   Warm Springs Ventures offers computer assistance Wednesday’s at 2 at the Computer Learning Lab inside the Teepee Deli.  These are informal one-on-one sessions. If you need basic computer help – call 541-553-3565, ask for Evan and set up a time to learn.
·   Warm Springs Credit Enterprise and WS Housing has their Homebuyer Class tomorrow night at 6:30 at the Credit Building.

·   There is a meeting for Camp Crew Supervisors this Thursday at 1:30 at Warm Springs Fire Management. This is for Camp Crew Supervisors only.
·   Warm Springs Tribal Council is hosting the State of Oregon Economic Development Cluster meeting today.

·   The Jefferson County Library Community Film Center will show the movie The Italian – rated PG, on Friday night at 7:30 at the Rodriquez Annex in Madras. The Film is Free and refreshments are available.

·   Living on a Few Acres is a conference being offered at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds In Redmond on Saturday March 20th. 
·   The CHS Garden Center in Madras is presenting a workshop Saturday 3/20 on Creating Great Soil for Your Garden Saturday at 10am at 60 NW Depot Road in Madras just off Highway 26 at the top of the hill.
·   There will be a Christian community potluck dinner and united prayer for the community this Saturday Night at 6 at High Lookee Lodge in the Tribal Room.
 
3/22 The Warm Springs SDPI Diabetes Prevention Program, OSU Extension and the Master Gardeners are offering Community Garden Mini Workshops this Spring. Sessions are Monday evenings starting next Monday – March 22nd. For more information call 541-553-0118 and talk to Edmund.

Warm Springs Tribal Council Elections will be held on Wednesday March 31st. Tribal Member voters can cast their ballot at the Warm Springs Community Center.   To request an absentee ballot or if you have questions – contact the Vital Statistics department. There will be a candidate forum for all districts on Wednesday March 24th at the Agency Longhouse starting at 6pm. There will be a potluck followed by candidate campaign speeches and questions from the people. Candidate Garland Brunoe is holding a question and answer meeting on Tuesday March 23rd at the Warm Springs Community Center at 6pm.   All candidates are invited to announce any meetings or presentations on KWSO and a reminder – you can still record your Tribal Council candidate statement for KWSO’s special elections program.

The Warm Springs Community Action Team AARP Tax Aid Site is taking appointments for free tax filing. Taxes are due April 15th. There is a web-based appointment scheduler at “warmspringsprogress dot net. If you don’t have access to the internet – then stop by the Warm Springs Community Action team office in the Family Resource Center
 
2010 US Census Takers will be in the Warm Springs Community now through April placing the census form at your door. Please complete the 10 question form and put it in the mail in the envelope provided. If you need help completing the form or have any question s- contact Urbana Ross at 541-553-3271. Warm Springs Tribal Members should claim Native American on question 9 and write in C O N F space T R B space warm space S P R G for the Tribal Name.
 
Camp Crew Registrations forms are now available at Fire Management. These are seasonal, on-call positions for working as a camp crew member, not as a fire fighter.

3/27 The Warm Springs Community Canoe dedication is this Sdaturday 3/27 at Indian Park. Washut Services will be held at 8am followed by canoe welcoming ceremonies and demonstrations. Lunch will be at 1 and all are invited to attend.

3/25 Its Spring Break at Warm Springs Recreation and today and tomorrow you can enjoy Arts & Crafts in Carol’s Room or participate in the Sky Walkers Basketball Camp. The morning session will be for 1st thru 6th grade kids and 2 til 4 its 7th thru 12th graders. There will be pizza and t-shirts for kids who participate both days.

The 17th annual tribal member Art Exhibit opens at the Museum at Warm Springs October 21st and runs thru January 9th.   The show features traditional and contemporary art of various media by adult tribal member artists.
