Clean up from Shitike Creek flooding continues today

The Museum at Warm Springs grounds have been inspected and the Museum is scheduled to reopen tomorrow, following their usual Monday closure today.

Emergency Management is urging people to continue to avoid Elmer Quinn Park until the area is cleared of debris.

Water receded back into Shitike Creek by Saturday.  The flooding was due to heavy rains upstream from an atmospheric river that impacted the Northwest.

 

CTWS advertising several tribal & non-tribal member board positions

The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs are advertising positions on several boards and taking applications until January 16th.

There are Tribal Member positions open on the following boards:

  • TERO Commission – 4 positions
  • Warm Springs Housing Authority Board – 1 position
  • Warm Springs Telco Board – 1 Class III position
  • Water Board – 2 positions

There are also Tribal and Non-Member positions being advertised on the Indian Head Casino, Warm Springs Composite Products and Warm Springs Power & Water Enterprise Boards.

Letters of interest and resumes of applicants interested in serving on any of these boards need to be submitted by 5pm on January 16th to the office of the Secretary-Treasurer. Applicants also need to sign a criminal and credit background check.

 

Warm Springs IHS to be closed 3 days for the holiday

The Warm Springs Indian Health Service clinic will be closed on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday (Dec. 24-26) this week for the holiday. Folks should check their medications and call in all refills by today for pickup by 5pm Tuesday.

The refill line is 541-553-2475. If you are unable to get through at that number, they are also utilizing an alternate cell phone number for refills – 541-325-6777.

 

MHS varsity boys win Seaside Holiday Tourney

The Madras boys are now a perfect 8-0 after winning the Seaside Holiday Tournament championship on Saturday. The three-day tournament began with a game against the host team, Seaside, on Thursday, which Madras won 56-34. Friday night, Madras faced Woodland, Washington, and secured a victory with a score of 61-48. On Saturday, the White Buffs went up against league rival The Dalles and triumphed with a final score of 72-61, winning the tournament.

First Team All-Tournament honors went to Matthew Suppah-Scott and Second Team All-Tournament went to John Buffalo-Ball.

The Lady Buffs went 1-3 in the Seaside Tournament.

Both teams are idle until the Sisters Tournament beginning January 1st.
