Funeral Arrangements for Ursula Gibson –
The funeral Mass will be this morning (10/10) at 10am at St. Kateri Tekakwitha in Warm Springs. Burial will follow at the Agency Cemetery.
Memorials are being held this morning for Josh Kalama and Clifford Bernie Earl. A headstone unveiling will begin at 10am at the Agency Cemetery. Memorials, lunch and namegiving will follow at the Agency Longhouse.
A local group is holding weekly rallies to help energize local voters. They are gathering every Saturday morning from 10:30 to noon at the North Y in Madras to encourage community participation in the upcoming general election. These weekly rallies will run through October 31st. Everyone is welcome to join.
Jefferson County Library Association is having a book sale at the Books, Bites & Harvest Delights event today at the Jefferson County Event Complex from 10am-4pm. They will have books for all ages and genres. Book donations are also welcome.
BendFilm Festival screenings are being held at the Wyam Youth Center today. At 5pm they will show The River Remembers & First Descent: Kayaking the Klamath at 5pm, and then a Documentary Shorts Showcase at 7.
Tribal Enterprise Revenue Projections meetings are coming up for the Agency and Simnasho Districts: Monday, October 12th at the Agency Longhouse and Thursday, October 15th at the Simnasho Longhouse. Both meetings will begin at 5pm with a meal and then the meeting.
The Madras-Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce is coordinating local Candidate Forums. Monday, October 12th at 6:30pm there will be a forum for Jefferson County Sheriff candidates at the Jefferson County Health and Wellness Campus Community Room. People need to submit questions for the candidates for consideration to MadrasChamber@gmail.com before the events.
Jefferson County 509J’s School Board will meet on Monday, October 12th in the Board Conference Room at the District Office (Support Services Building) located at 445 S. E. Buff Street in Madras at 6:30pm.
The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs Employees 2027 Open Enrollment period runs through October 29th. Live and Virtual informational meetings are on October 13th and 14th to review your medical, dental, vision, life insurance, flexible spending and 401(k) options. Central Oregon Community College’s JobFest will be at the Madras campus on Wednesday, October 14th from 10am to 1pm. It is free and open to the public; no registration is required. Attendees can learn about employment, internship and volunteer opportunities while determining the types of skills and experiences required for those positions. Employers from a wide range of industries will be on site.
Warm Springs Prevention’s 5th Annual PreventionFest will be held Wednesday, October 14th from 4-6:30. They will have food, treats, a pumpkin patch and family fun activities in the field near the Prevention office on Campus. Admission is free.
Warm Springs Community Health is having a baby beaded-moccasins making class October 22nd & 29th from 9-4:30 both days in the IHS conference room. The class will be prioritized for expecting/newborn parents as supplies are limited. If you are a community member and have your own supplies, you are more than welcomed to attend.
