KWSO Counting Book

KWSO Counting Book

KWSO is participating in an Early Literacy project with Warm Springs ECE an part of our efforts included the printing of some small books featuring counting from 1 to 10 in the 3 languages of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs.

We gave out copies of the books at the Warm Springs Christmas Bazaar in December.  More books will be given out to families in the future.  The book features original artwork by KWSO’s Kiandra Smith, that represents unique Warm Springs images.

To allow folks to hear the counting in Ichishkiin, Kiksht & Numu, we utilized archival language lessons recorded by the Warm Springs Culture and Heritage Language Program.  Using the book images and the archival audio we created this video.

We also created 3 separate videos for the book in each of the 3 languages of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs
