Solar Training in Warm Springs

Solar Training in Warm Springs

A group of tribal workers from the Warm Springs Housing Authority and the Branch of Public Utilities stopped by the Warm Springs Media Center today (6/3/26) to inspect our solar panels. The panels were installed on the roof 16 years ago, and have been working with no issues since then.   KWSO’s electric bill for April 2026 states 1,549 total kwh used with 629 of that generated by the solar panels.  The solar energy generated offsets the amount of electricity used and saves money.

The site visit was part of a clean energy training session planned by Joe Schwartz of Seven Skyline Energy Planning. Joel Holiday, project coordinator for the Housing Authority, says the team is getting trained up to troubleshoot and maintain the solar systems currently on ten local homes.

And more community solar is on the way. Future projects include installations at ten tiny homes, the Greeley Heights building, fourteen low-income homes, and a solar and battery setup at the Senior Wellness Center later this year.

The ongoing training is funded by Tribal Energy Alternatives, with a follow-up session scheduled for August backed by the Energy Trust of Oregon.
