Winter Break continues this week for all 509J Schools.  Warm Springs Head Start is open this week although its an early release on New Year’s Eve and no school on New Year’s Day.

Warm Springs community members are welcome to fill containers with free drinking water every Monday at the Hydro Panel Facility, located next to the old Vehicle Pool building in the Industrial Park. Stop by Mondays between 8am and 5pm.

At the Behavioral Health Center every Monday is a Women’s Talking Circle from 11-12:30 and the Adolescent Alcohol & Drug Education Court Program at 4:00. These are for current clients – find out more by calling 541-553-3205. Naimuma Wellbriety Group meets Mondays at 5:30 at the Smurf Village PSH and it’s open to all.

The Four Columbia River Tribes set a Commercial Sturgeon Setline Fishery for The Dalles and John Day Pools from 6am Thursday, January 8th through 6pm Saturday, January 17th and for the Bonneville Pool January 19-29. These are for setlines only.

NARA Northwest invites everyone to its 38th Annual New Year’s Eve Sobriety Powwow at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland December 31st. There’s a youth powwow with fun & games at 1:00, dance exhibition at 4:30 and the Powwow Grand Entry & NARA NW Honorings begin at 6pm. The Sobriety Countdown starts at 9:30.

  • 4 Positions, Tribal & Non-Member, on the Warm Springs Composite Board
  • 1 Position on the Warm Springs Local Housing Authority Board of Commissioners
  • 2 Positions, Tribal & Non-Member for Warm Springs Power & Water Enterprise Board
  • 3 Positions, Tribal & Non-Member on the Telco Board of Directors
  • 2 Positions on the Waterboard
  • 2 Member & Non-Member positions on Warm Springs Credit Board of Directors

Interested applicants should submit a letter of interest, resume & signature on a criminal/credit background check to the office of the Secretary-Treasurer no later than 5pm on January 16th.

Community Service is looking for Senior Citizens’ names and addresses for wood delivery. Contact Tasheyna Sohappy at 541-553-3293 to provide information.

Motorists are encouraged to reduce speed in areas where there is a lot of pedestrian traffic or bike traffic after dark. Going slower is one way to ensure the safety of those folks walking and biking. Stay safe out there.

The Warm Springs Tribes offers an emergency notification system but folks need to opt in to receive messages.  In the event of winter weather impacts on roads making travel hazardous for employees, there could be changes to work or service hours.  The alert system communicates information to employees and the general public via e-mail messages.  To participate you can sign up online http://bit.ly/CTWSOAlerts or contact the Tribes’ Office of Information Systems.
