The Madras Saturday Market is happening today starting at 9 and going until 2:00 at Sahalee Park featuring local vendors.
The Simnasho Tribal Market is open Saturdays and Sundays 10am – 2pm by the Simnasho Longhouse. Tribal Vendors are welcome and visitors are encouraged.
Nature Kids is at Sahalee Park in Madras this morning 9:30-11am. They are having a Teddy Bear Picnic! All Nature Kids are free and ideal for families with kids ages 5-10. Visit DeschutesLandTrust.org to learn more.
The Humane Society of Central Oregon will have a free pet wellness clinic in Warm Springs today from 10am until 2pm. The walk-in clinic will be at Fire & Safety on campus – appointments are not needed. Pets can get a wellness exam, vaccinations, microchip and dewormer medication.
The Wasco County Fair has been cancelled this year due to the Grasshopper Fire concerns.
A Celebration of Life for Keith Baker will be held this afternoon at 2pm at the campus pavilion. A potluck and giveaway will follow a short memorial service. Keith Baker was a tireless advocate for veterans and worked with youth in Warm Springs for many years teaching search and rescue.
A Celebration of Life for Dr. Yvonne Stevenson, who passed away in May, will be held today at 1pm at the Madras Performing Arts Center. Dr. Stevenson was a long time health care provider in Warm Springs and Madras.
The Warm Springs Police Department has temporarily contracted with Frontier Regional 911 to assist with dispatch during overnight hours. Frontier is handling all 911 and emergency dispatch services for the Warm Springs PD between the hours of 6pm and 6am. During these hours, community members who need non-emergency assistance from the police department should call 541-384-2080.
Papalaxsimisha, Warm Springs Recreation & Southern Oregon University “All My Relations” Program invite youth to an art camp August 17-19 from 9am to 3pm each day in the Community Center social hall. The community is invited to attend for dinner and an art showcase on Wednesday, August 19th starting at 5:30. To register kids for the camp call 541-553-3243 or stop by the Community Center office.

The Back to School Yard Sale at the Community Wellness Center is on Friday, August 21 from 9am to 3pm. Tables are limited and you can reserve one at the Rec office.
A co-ed 3-on-3 basketball tournament for cancer prevention will be held on August 29th 10-3 at the Warm Springs Community Center. Registration will be open that morning from 8-10am or you can pre-register now by calling or texting Torrie at 971-509-4756. There will be youth age 9-17 and adult divisions plus health resources and food trucks Prizes will be given for 1st through 3rd places and a $50 stipends for refs.
ABBAcadabra: The Ultimate ABBA Tribute Concert will take place on Friday, August 21st at General Duffy’s Waterhole in Redmond. Doors open at 6pm with music at 8:30. Proceeds benefit the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs Wildfire Recovery Fund and Thrive Central Oregon. Ticke details are available at GeneralDuffys.com.
