The Senior Center is closed today. There is no senior meal.
The Madras Community Food Pantry at 370 SW Culver Highway is open today from 10AM to 1PM.
It’s Tribal Appreciation Day today at Kah-Nee-Ta Hot. Starting this Sunday (10/4) Tribal Day will be every Sunday. Tribal members, spouses, residents, and employees get a complimentary resort pass for swimming and land activities plus a 50% discount on cabana rentals, 25% off of food in the restaurant and 10% off of items in the pool clubhouse store.
KWSO is having a free screening of the award-winning documentary Bad Press this afternoon and everyone is invited to attend. The documentary follows the Muscogee Nation’s fight for press freedom after their tribal government repealed the tribe’s Free Press Act. It highlights the crucial role an independent press plays in Native communities and the ongoing battle for transparency. The event is being held at the Madras Performing Arts Center. Doors will open at 3 with refreshments and the screening will begin at 4. A panel discussion will follow. Admission is free, and community members are all encouraged to come out, enjoy the film, and stick around for a discussion on the importance of local, independent tribal media. It’s part of our 40-year anniversary and we’d like to see you there.
Warm Springs K-8 Cross Country runners will compete in Prineville this afternoon at 4. It’s being hosted by Crook County at the Wetlands.
Warm Springs Prevention’s “Every Child Matters” Powwow is this evening at the Warm Springs K8 gym. There will be a meal at 5:30 and the powwow begins at 6:30. All singers, dancers & spectators are welcome.
Warm Springs Diabetes Prevention’s last Strong Camp for youth is this evening at the old elementary school gym. Camp for 3rd-5th grades is from 5:30-7pm and the grade 6-8 camp is from 7 until 8:30pm.
High Desert Food & Farm Alliance is inviting community members to a seed swap and pumpkin painting event on Thursday (10/1) from 4:30-6:30pm at the Community Wellness Center in the social hall. It’s free and family friendly.
Papalaxsimisha is inviting high school seniors and their families to a financial aid assistance night Thursday (9/30). A college financial specialist will be on-site to answer questions and help families get started on their application at the old school cafeteria. Dinner will be provided at 5:30 and the meeting is from 6-8.
The 2027 Warm Springs Tribal Employee Open Enrollment Period runs from October 1st through the 29th. Setting up or adjusting your 401(k) allows pre-tax dollars to be automatically saved from your paycheck so your money grows tax-deferred for retirement. Open Enrollment ends October 29th. The Community Center is having a Halloween costume exchange on Tuesday, October 6th from 4:30-6:30 in the social hall.
Warm Springs Recreation’s Fall Round Up Yard Sale is on Friday (10/2) in the front courtyard at the Community Center from 9-3. Call 541-553-3243 to reserve a table.
The Warm Springs K8’s first monthly assembly of the school year is this Friday (10/2) in the gym and will celebrate character trait awards, student of the month, and great attendance. The 3rd-5th Grade assembly is from 8:15-8:45am. The assembly for Kinder-2nd Grade is 9:00-9:30am. A 6th-8th Grade assembly is from 10-10:30.
