Warm Springs Nation Little League needs volunteers to help clean up the softball and baseball fields this Saturday and again next Saturday from 10am to 2pm. Bring any useful tools, equipment or skills.

The “All Pathways of Recovery” potluck & speaker meeting will be held this Saturday (10/3) from 5-7:30pm at the Recovery Community Center, located at 43 NW Cherry Lane, Suite 104 in Madras. Bring your favorite dish or side if you would like to – it is not required. The Recovery Community Center is for adults 18 and older. This is a community recovery event and is not affiliated with AA, NA or any specific recovery fellowship.

Funeral Services for Viola (Yahtin) Govenor will begin Monday October 5th with a 2pm Departure from BelAir Funeral Home in Madras for the Simnasho Longhouse with a 3pm Viewing.  Following dinner there will be an Open Denomination Service and Washut Service.  Burial is Tuesday 8am at the Simnasho Cemetery.

The Madras-Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce is coordinating local Candidate Forums. Monday, October 5th at 6:30pm there will be a forum for Madras City Council candidates at the Madras Performing Arts Center. People need to submit questions for the candidates for consideration to MadrasChamber@gmail.com before the events.

Native American Program Legal Aid Services of Oregon (NAPOLS) will be in Warm Springs on October 5th & November 2nd from 9am to noon at the Community Action Team office. Appointments are available by calling 541-668-8352. Walk-ins are also welcome as time allows. Legal Aid Services of Oregon is a non-profit law firm that offers free civil legal services to low-income people.

A boil water notice has been issued for the Agency Water System now until further notice due to a 6 inch water main break.  Any time there is a disruption to the water distribution system, a boil water notice must be issued and will remain in effect until water testing is done and result s come back giving the okay to cancel the notice.

Next week, the Community Center is having a Halloween costume exchange on Tuesday (10/6) from 4:30-6:30 in the social hall. On Thursday (10/8) they are hosting a spooky season Halloween movie night. The event starts at 5:30 until 7 and free snacks will be provided.

The Museum at Warm Springs is calling for artwork for the 33rd Annual Tribal Member Art Exhibit showcasing Tribal Member Adult & Youth artists. The deadline to submit art for judging is Tuesday, October 20th at 5pm. The deadline for “display purposes only” is Tuesday, October 27th at 5. The exhibit will go on display on November 18th at the opening reception set for 5:30-7:30pm. Art supplies for youth will be provided, while supplies last, at the reception. Applications are available at the Museum at Warm Springs, which must be submitted with artwork. For more information contact Angela Smith at the Museum.

BendFilm and the Wyam Youth Center will feature a screening of the movie Smoke Signals in Warm Springs on Friday, October 9th at 4:30. Actress Tantoo Cardinal, who plays Arlene Joseph (Victor’s Mom) in the film, will be in attendance for a panel and meet & greet after the screening. Following that, at 7:30, they will also show a Narrative Shorts Showcase screening to kick off Wyam Event for Bend Film Festival. Saturday, October 10th at 5pm BendFilm will show The River Remembers & First Descent: Kayaking the Klamath at 5pm, and then a Documentary Shorts Showcase at 7.
