The monthly Talking Circle with Shawnetta Yahtin is this morning from 9-10:00 in the Health & Wellness Center atrium from 9-10am. Light snacks are provided.
Free dental clinics hosted by Medical Teams in collaboration with Warm Springs Managed Care are happening today from 9am to 2pm at the Old School Cafeteria and tomorrow 9am to 2pm at the Family Resource Center. Services provided include dental extractions and fillings. Services are free and no appointments are necessary.
The Madras Community Food Pantry at 370 SW Culver Highway is open today from 10-1.
There is a senior lunch today at noon at the Warm Springs Senior Center dining area. Senior meals are free for all elders age 60 and older. Folks can join the seniors for lunch – it’s $1 for Youth, $5 for adults or you can assist with clean-up after the meal.

Warm Springs Prevention will have a powwow drum making class for youth ages 10-18 this evening in the old school cafeteria from 6-8:30.
Warm Springs Extension Service is inviting folks to join for the annual Fall Fruit Loop Tour this Saturday (10/10). They will be leaving the Education Building between 8 and 8:30. Message them on the Warm Springs Extension Facebook page if you want to join. Limited free transportation is available if you let them know by today. The weather is supposed to get much cooler starting Friday, so dress accordingly. And be sure to bring your own lunch, snacks, water and money to buy produce.
Warm Springs Community Health’s Mobile Medical Clinic will be located at the Simnasho Fire Station on Thursday (10/8) from 10 until 3. They can help with medical problems, medications, COVID & flu shots, and STI tests. Walk-ins are welcome, however procedures will require an appointment. To schedule, call 541-553-2352.
The Community Center is hosting a spooky season Halloween movie night tomorrow (10/8). The event starts at 5:30 until 7 and free snacks will be provided.
The Madras-Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce is coordinating local Candidate Forums. This Thursday (10/8) at 6:30pm there will be a forum for Madras Mayor candidates at the Madras City Council Chambers. People need to submit questions for the candidates for consideration to MadrasChamber@gmail.com before the events.
Warm Springs Recreation is taking kids ages 6-17 on a trip to the pumpkin patch at Liepold Farms in Boring this Friday (10/9). The bus will leave at 9:30 and return by 4:30. Kids need to be signed up and space is limited. The cost is $12. Permission slips and payments are accepted at the Rec office. Kids will need to bring a sack lunch, good walking shoes and a warm jacket. Call 541-553-3243 for more information.
BendFilm and the Wyam Youth Center will feature a special screening of the movie Smoke Signals in Warm Springs this Friday (10/9). Actress Tantoo Cardinal, who plays Arlene Joseph (Victor’s Mom) in the film, will be in attendance for meet & greet before the film and a panel discussion after. The Meet & Greet starts at 2pm and the film screening at 4:30.
The BendFilm Festival starts this week and in addition to Smoke Signals, the Wyam will also show a Narrative Shorts Showcase screening Friday at 7:30pm. On Saturday (10/10) at the Wyam, there will be a screening at 5pm of The River Remembers & First Descent: Kayaking the Klamath, and a Documentary Shorts Showcase at 7. Tribal Enterprise Revenue Projections meetings will be held Monday, October 12th at the Agency Longhouse and Tuesday, October 15th at the Simnasho Longhouse. Meetings are scheduled for 6-8pm with a meal provided.
Warm Springs Construction will be doing work on the Beaver Grade to Simnasho over the next few weeks. Motorists can expect one-way traffic with a flagger while the work is being done. Please be alert and use caution in that area.
