Oregon Representative Earl Blumenaur visited Warm Springs on Wednesday September 2, 2015 for a meeting with Tribal Leadership, the County Line 2 Fire Incident Management Team, Warm Springs Fire Management and representatives from Forestry, Natural Resources and the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
He was presented with information about the fire and the need to advocate for prevention funding to eliminate fuels and continue to educate homeowners about defensible space. Funding has been reduced at the federal level for fuels reduction as well as for Wildland Fire personnel. Blumenaur talked about efforts of Northwest representation on Capitol Hill – to work toward policy change to focus on more prevention – versus suppression.
