Gavin Begay Plays It Forward

The Oregon Sports Awards was held last night at the Tiger Woods Center, Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton. At the event awards were given for outstanding achievements and performances in Oregon Sports including the Nike/Providence Health and Services Play It Forward Award.

Last year’s inaugural winner was Marcus Mariota – and this year’s winner was Warm Springs’ own Gavin Begay who just graduated from Madras High School. Begay, ran cross country and played basketball for Madras, is a member of the Warm Springs Youth Council, volunteers as a youth referee and umpire and also has worked with the Kiwanis of Jefferson County.
