“We Rise” is the theme of the 10th Oregon Women Veterans Conference, a free event open to all Oregon veterans, which celebrates the strength, diversity and achievements of our nation’s female warriors. The Oregon Women Veterans’ Conference will take place on April 26-28 at Sunriver Resort in Bend. Registration is open now. Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System or BRFSS surveys are still being done in Warm Springs. At 250 surveys completed, they are currently about halfway to their goal. Thirty dollar gift cards are being provided to those who participate – it takes about an hour to complete and results are kept confidential. Data collected from these surveys helps with the targeting and building health promotion and services. BRFSS surveys are administered nationwide by local health departments. The Madras Lady White Buffalo Basketball team hosts a first round state playoff game this Friday night at 6:30 against Valley Catholic.  And, Madras Boys Basketball has a first round game Saturday at 3pm at Banks.  KWSO will broadcast both those contests live.

Congratulations to the Madras 5th Grade Girls COBO Team who won at the COBO Tournament over the weekend. They beat Summit 29-24. The 6th grade girls also made it to the Championship matchup where they were defeated 32-27 by Redmond. A shout out to all of the players, coaches and families who worked together getting kids to practices and to games every weekend throughout Central Oregon.  The Oregon Middle School Basketball Championship tournaments are played in central Oregon – at sites in Bend, Redmond and Sisters. The girls tourney is coming up March 2-4. A record 113 state qualified ladies teams will take the court for the 2018 Girls Championship weekend. Schedules will be posted by the end of today at
