KWSO News for 9/25/19

Warm Springs Tribal Council met this past Monday and heard updates from both the Secretary Treasurer and the Chief Operations Officer.  The October Agenda and October Travel Delegations were approved.  A resolution passed appointing Marielle Florendo, Thor Hoyte and Cynthia Starkey to the Warm Springs Court of Appeals for 3 year terms.  Other business conducted included Federal & State Legislative Update calls & Enrollments.  The Fish & Wildlife on Reservation Committee did a budget presentation.  Tribal Council also voted to change the number of Board Members for Ventures to 5 members and then appointed Daniel Ahern, Isaac George and Pamela Keo-Douglas to the Ventures Board of Directors. TC SUM 09 23 19

It’s Homecoming week at Madras High School and part of their new tradition is to enroll new members to the school’s Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame.  This will be the 4th year for this program which shares with students – White Buffalo Alumni who have succeeded in their field.  It prompts today’s students to think about how they can succeed in accomplishing their dreams.  There will be a breakfast reception on Friday Morning and a student assembly Friday for the new Distinguished Alumni who include Dr Antonio Pena from the class of 1982, Dr. Shilo Shaw Tippett from the class of 1991, Dr. Jarold Ramsey from the class of 1955, and Tom Tucker from the class of 1999.  Friday night the inductees will be present at the Madras Football homecoming game as well.

Warm Springs Nation Little League met on Monday and selected officers for the 2019-2020 season.

In Warm Springs K8 sports yesterday – football lost to Culver 12-8

8th grade Players on the roster yesterday were: Gunner Bailey, Seneca Ball, Dasen Begay, Ferani Fuiava, Jedidiah Governor, Joseph Miller, Kody Miller, Rico Perez Greene, Skytus Smith, Aiden Torillita, Latrell Vanpelt Graybael, Tristan Wewa, Thomas Knoff, Dewayne Charley.  7th grade players were Kian Alverez, Diego Arthur, Allen Greene, Andrew Perez, Teshawn Sorrelhorse, Tony Suppah, Erik Williams, Kylan Yaw, Mathew Smith, Kobe Baez & Taichjay Clements.  The Eagles Head Coach is Alvis Smith III.  Assistant Coaches are J.T. Ball, Tony Cortazar and Edna David.
