The Tribal Council will meet today. On the agenda this morning – updates from the Housing Authority; Warm Springs Timber LLC; and High Lookee Lodge. This afternoon they will hear updates from Economic Development Corporation, the Range & Ag Committee; and the Off Reservation Fish & Wildlife Committee.
Thrive Central Oregon can help connect people to local resources they are looking for – such as housing, healthcare, basic needs, benefits assistance, employment and more. There are many resources in Central Oregon, but they can be difficult to access alone. They have drop-in hours in Warm Springs and Madras once a week. Tuesdays they are available at the Warm Springs Housing Authority from 9am-noon and 1-3pm. Thursdays they are at Jefferson County Public Health 10am until 3.
The Warm Springs Commodities Food Bank, located at 4217 Holliday Street in the Industrial Park, is open 10 until 1 today.
The Madras Community Food Pantry at 370 SW Culver Highway is open 10-1 today.
Today is Senior Lunch from noon to 1 at the Warm Springs Senior Building. On the menu: beef stroganoff with sweet peas, brown rice, steamed cauliflower & fresh fruit.
The Jefferson County Senior Center in Madras will serve lunch today for folks 60 & older.
The Warm Springs K8’s Native American Student Union for 6th, 7th & 8th grade students will meet tomorrow from 3-4pm in the Community Room.
The 59th Annual Warm Springs All-Indian Men’s Holiday Basketball Tournament is on January 22-24 at the Community Center. Entries are due tomorrow. Contact Austin Greene at 541-553-3243 for more information.
U.S. Senator Ron Wyden will hold his Jefferson County town hall meeting on Friday (Jan. 16) at 1pm at the Madras Performing Arts Center.
OSU Extension Service in Warm Springs is having a Food Preservation Class for you to learn how to make and preserve homemade barbecue & marinara sauces. It will be on January 22nd at 10am in the Old School Cafeteria. Space is limited and you need to reserve a spot by calling 541-553-3238 or email sara.olson@oregonstate.edu.
The 21st Century After School Program at the Warm Springs K-8 is looking for a SMART Reading volunteer who will spend one hour a week reading with children in our community. You will read with kinder and first grade students. Training and support are provided. Apply online at www.SMARTreading.org/volunteer.
The Miss Warm Springs Pageant will be held on Saturday, January 24th. They are seeking women age 18-24 who are interested in being a candidate. The pageant is set for January 24th at 10am at the Agency Longhouse.
