WSTC Fiber to Home

The Warm Springs Telecom Fiber to Home project is underway to improve internet service to Warm Springs homes.  Initial work is being done by a contractor to install underground conduits that will carry new fiber optic lines.   Crews began working in West Hills and are making progress although installation has been slowed by tough terrain (hard rocky ground) and from the necessity of locating existing underground utilities.  Mapping of that infrastructure has not been reliable.

After the conduit pipe is laid, a crew will set up boxes or vaults, followed by another crew pulling the fiber, and finally, a fiber splicer will “light it up” to activate the service.  This initial phase of the Fiber to Home project is expected to take several more months.
