Funeral Arrangements for Roma David – Wednesday (Jun 10) The will depart from Autumn Funeral Home at noon and go to the Agency Longhouse for dressing at 1. A meal and services will follow. Thursday (Jun 11) they will depart at 5am and go to the Simnasho Cemetery for burial. They will return to the Agency Longhouse after for ceremonies and a meal.
It’s the Last Day of School of 509-J students.
The Warm Springs K-8 Academy End of School Year Powwow is this morning at 9:30 on the football field. All dancers & drummers are welcome.
The ECE Head Start Graduation is today starting at 10:30am at the Agency Longhouse.
The Warm Springs Commodities Food Bank, located at 4217 Holliday Street in the Industrial Park, is open 10 until 1 today.
The Madras Community Food Pantry at 370 SW Culver Highway is open 10-1 today.
Today is Senior Lunch from noon to 1 at the Warm Springs Senior Building. On the menu: roasted pork tenderloin, mashed potatoes with mushroom gravy, sweet peas & canned fruit.
The Jefferson County Senior Center in Madras will serve lunch today for folks 60 & older.
Warm Springs Community Health Program has a hand sewing circle that meets every Tuesday at noon in the I H S atrium. Lunch and supplies are provided for participants. For more info contact Charlene 541-553-2352 or Charlene.Moody@wstribes.org.
Warm Springs Behavioral Health has groups every Wednesday that are open to the public. At 10am is A&D Education in the conference room. At 3:00 is Building Relationships group. And there is a Wellbriety meeting & book study at 4. Also on Wednesday afternoons at 4, there’s an A&D Education group for adults and a the Youth Wellbriety Program meets. Both of those are for current BHC clients.
SriPonya Collective presents the Brothers & Sisters in Progress Steps to Freedom Re-entry group Tuesdays from 5:30-7pm at the Jefferson County Library in Madras. It’s a peer-led weekly support group where people returning from prison build a healthy support system. There is also a Zoom option to attend. Every 2nd Tuesday the group meets virtually only. Culture & Heritage Culture Camp is this Wednesday through Friday (Jun 10-12) at Peter’s Pasture. They are taking a limited number of kids age 8-13. Applications are available at the Education Building. For more information contact Sharon or Nancy at 541-553-3290.
The Warm Springs Boys & Girls Club will be closed June 10-12 for staff training. The summer program starts on Monday, June 15 and it will run weekdays 8-5. No meals will be provided in June. Youth must bring their own breakfast & lunch. The 509J Summer Meals Program will start on July 6th. The club will be closed on June 19th for the Juneteenth Holiday.
Cascades East Transit will be hosting a pop-event to assist Warm Springs residents with account pass sign-ups and lost transit card replacements. Representatives will be at the Family Resource Center tomorrow (Jun 10) from 9am until noon.
The Wyam Youth Center is hosting an event tomorrow (Jun 10) in honor of LaRonn Katchia and his recent Emmy wins. They will screen his film Guardian of the Land. The event begins at 6pm and seating is limited so show up early. They will have light snacks, drinks and cake.
An event coming up tomorrow (Jun 10) at the Warm Springs Health & Wellness Center will feature a panel of community members who have successfully lost weight with Wegovy and Ozempic. People who are interested in losing weight or becoming healthier and would like to hear their personal stories and insights are welcome to attend. It’s Wednesday from 5-7pm in the clinic atrium. Health snacks will be provided.
A public meeting for information about CCDF will be held Thursday, June 11th at 5:30 at ECE. A light meal will be provided.
SriPonya Collective / Youth in Progress will have a summer kick-off on Thursday, June 11th from noon to 3 for youth and families. They will have games, music, and food in the parking lot behind their building at 29 SE D St in Madras.
The first Thursday Market of the year is coming up June 18th from 10:30am – 2pm at the Campus Pavillion. Vendors are welcome to come set up. It’s first come, first service for available tables and chairs. Many of our local bead & craft artisans will be set up along with programs like the IHS pharmacy & Head Start. The High Desert Food and Farm Alliance will have 30 free fresh harvest kits for folks. At the first market the Rooper Rand from Redmond will be selling produce and the Jefferson County Library will have free books. OHSU will be there talking about water quality and navigating cancer. High Desert ESD STEM Hub and COCC will host a STEM Camp June 22-25 9:30-2 each day at the COCC Bend & Madras campuses. It is open to current 6th and 7th graders and transportation is provided to/from Warm Springs each day is provided. It’s free to students in Jefferson County & Culver. Jefferson County School District 509J is accepting registrations for its 3-week summer acceleration program. Transportation will be provided to students who need it and meals will be served to all students. Due to a large construction project at Warm Springs K-8 Academy, students who attend the K8 will attend the summer program at Madras Elementary School. K-8 students who attend Madras, Buff & Metolius Elementary Schools and Jefferson County Middle School will attend the summer program at Bridges High School. 9th Grade Strong Start students and Grade 10-12 Credit Recovery programs will take place at Madras High School. The Programs will run July 20 – August 6 from 8:15am – 3pm. Register on the school district’s website.
“Red, White & Blue, This Fair is For You” is the team of the 2026 Jefferson County Fair & Rodeo, which runs July 22-25 at the Jefferson County Event Complex in Madras. Carnival tickets go on sale June 1st at El Torito Supermarket. Entertainment includes 11 live bands, music bingo, Jefferson County’s Got Talent and more. The NPRA Rodeo will be Friday & Saturday at the fair. Admission to the fair is free, but it does cost to get into the rodeo – $15 for adults, $7 for ages 6-12 and free for kids 5 & under.
