  • Offices in the Tribal Organization are closed today in observation of the 4th of July holiday.
  • In observance of the Independence Day holiday, Cascades East Transit (CET) fixed & flex route bus, community connector and dial-a-ride services are not running today or tomorrow.
  • KWSO will be broadcasting the Waterfront Blues Festival from Portland again today and tomorrow – from 1 around 10pm each day. The broadcast is courtesy of KBOO radio and in collaboration with Oregon Community Media.
  • The Sacred Road Summer Program for kids in kindergarten through 6th grade is happening today behind the Warm Springs Community Center. It’s from 3-5pm and includes games, crafts, snacks and bible story. They will have the program every other week through the end of July.
  • The Metolius Friends Food Pantry is open to all on Fridays from 4-6pm at 575 Hood Ave. You do need to bring your own bags.

Celebrate Independence Day at the Warm Springs 4th of July events tomorrow. The theme is “250 Years of America, Time Immemorial Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs.”

  • The day kicks off with a 5k fun run/walk starting at 8am, with registration opening at 7:30.
  • Charles is sponsoring a breakfast for veterans at the old school cafeteria from 8-10:30am.
  • Parade festivities begin with a 9am lineup at the old elementary school, followed by float judging at 10 and the parade starts at 11.
  • Afterward, head to the Community Center for a BBQ at noon, a horseshoe tournament at 12:30, and family fun games on the fields starting around 1:30.
  • The celebration will conclude with a fireworks display at dusk.
  • At 10pm on the 4th of July there will be a drone show at the Community Center ball fields. At that time – for everyone’s safety – all fireworks need to stop until the show is over. So, if you have your own fireworks and set them off in Warm Springs – please remember to stop at 10 on the 4th of July so everyone can enjoy the drone show safely.  The drone show will last about 15 minutes.

In Madras – The Madras Elks Breakfast starts at 7am.  The Todd Beamer Run starts then as well, Vendors will be set up 9am until noon.  The Parade is at 10am and Madras Sparklers Fireworks will start at 10pm.  Fireworks will be at the high school with all other events at Sahalee Park.

The Plateau Travel Plaza is having a private soft grand opening event for Warm Springs Tribal Members on Monday, July 6th starting at 10am until 7pm. There will be a promotional fuel discount, free refreshments & giveaways, a full menu & discount available in the Three Teepee’s Café and other prizes, photo opportunities and activities for youth. The public grand opening will be on Saturday, July 11th from noon until 9 p.m. Warm Springs Tribal Member arts and craft vendors are still being sought for this event. Vendors must provide their own pop-up canopy, table, and chairs. To learn more or reserve a space, contact Janell at 541-460-7729.

A Columbia River Zone 6 Commercial Gillnet Fishery will open at 6am Monday, July 6th to 6pm Wednesday, July 8th. Gear can be set and drift gillnets with a 7-inch minimum mesh size.
