  • Free Summer Meals Today: Mid-week fuel up! Bring the kids and teens by Buff Elementary, Warm Springs Boys & Girls Club, or Bridges High School today for free summer meals. Jefferson County School District 509J is an equal opportunity provider.
  • The Community Wellness Center has a summer conditioning training session with Titus Kalama every Monday, Wednesday & Friday morning from 8:30-10.
  • The Community Center is taking kids on a field trip to the High Desert Museum this morning at 9. Kids who are going should remember to bring a packed lunch or spending-money.
  • Director & General Manager Updates are on the Tribal Council agenda today. This morning – Government Affairs; Tribal Court; Travel Delegations; August Agenda; and Minutes Review. This afternoon – Casino Operations, Board & Commission; TERO Update; and Warm Springs Community Action Team Update.
  • There’s a youth basketball camp this week at the Youth Center gym from 9:15-11:30am.
  • The Behavioral Health Center in Warm Springs offers an A&D Education Group every Wednesday morning at 10 that is open to anyone. Classes for current BHC clients on Wednesdays are Parenting at 11am, Adult Anger Management at 3 and a Men’s Focus Group at 4. Contact the BHC office for more information.
  • There is a senior lunch today at noon at the Warm Springs Senior Center dining area. Senior meals are free for all elders age 60 and older. Folks can join the seniors for lunch – it’s $1 for Youth, $5 for adults or you can assist with clean-up after the meal.
  • The Community Health Program is offering a free education session on dementia behaviors presented by OHSU today from noon until 4 in the old school cafeteria. Light snacks will be provided.
  • The Sacred Road Summer Program for kids in kindergarten through 6th grade is happening today behind the Warm Springs Community Center from 3-5pm.
  • The Young Adults in Transitions Drop-In Center in Madras is open to people between 14 and 25 years old to hang out, build connections, and get help with next steps in life. It offers support for: mental health & well-being, education & career planning, employment readiness, housing resources, healthy relationships, budgeting & financial literacy, life skills—and so much more. It’s open Wednesdays & Saturdays, 3-7PM for youth ages 14–18 who are currently in school and Saturdays, 10AM–2PM for young adults ages 18–25 not in school. It’s located at: 241 SW 6th Street, Madras.
  • The Culture & Heritage Committee is scheduled to meet from 3:30-7pm today at the Education Building. It meets two times per month on the 1st and 3rd
  • Papalaxsimisha’s pre-college summer series continues this evening at the old school cafeteria. Dinner is provided at 5:30 and the session is from 6-7:30. It’s a chance to get a head start on your college journey – learn about financial aid, applying to college, scholarships and get support on your path to college.
  • Simnasho’s Hot Summer Night Powwow & Encampment continues this evening at the Simnasho Powwow Arbor. There is a potluck barbecue dinner at 6pm and the powwow at 7pm.
  • Warm Springs Nation T-Ball Registration is being taken in person in the Family Resource Center conference room this evening from 6-8 and again tomorrow from 6-8pm. Next week on July 21, 22 & 23 they will be there from 5:30-7:30pm. There is no cost to register for t-ball. Birth certificates are required to verify age. Kids need to be 6 or 7 to participate.

The Thursday Market is tomorrow from 10:30am – 2pm at the Campus Pavillion.  Vendors are welcome to come set up.  It’s first come, first serve for available tables and chairs.  Stop by the KWSO booth for your chance to win tickets to one of the Indian Head Casino Summer Concerts.  Drawing will be July 30th. Pick up for Veggie Rx participants will be at the Thursday Market from 11 am – 2 pm. Please check in with Barbara at the HDFFA table. And if you are eligible and opted in, delivery will begin around 2:30 pm.

The Warm Springs Community Health mobile medical clinics will be located at the at the Simnasho Fire Station tomorrow (7/16) from 10am to 3pm. There are also clinics scheduled for July 23rd at the Thursday Market and July 28th at the Shelter Dining Hall. Walk-ins & appointments are available with RaNeva Dowty, Dr. Frey & Nurse Shirley. Prevention is having a bingo night with prizes tomorrow (7/16) starting at 6:30pm at the campus pavilion.

“Red, White & Blue, This Fair is For You” is the team of the 2026 Jefferson County Fair & Rodeo, which runs July 22-25 at the Jefferson County Event Complex in Madras. There is no carnival this year but there will be bouncy houses & games. Entertainment includes 11 live bands, music bingo, Jefferson County’s Got Talent and more.   The NPRA Rodeo will be Friday & Saturday at the fair. Admission to the fair is free, but it does cost to get into the rodeo – $15 for adults, $7 for ages 6-12 and free for kids 5 & under.

Papalaxsimisha, Warm Springs Recreation & Southern Oregon University’s “All My Relations” Program are having a summer art camp for youth July 27-29 from 9-3 in the Community Center social hall. Register with the Community Center office 541-553-3243. Families are welcome to join for a showcase of the artwork on Wednesday, July 29th at 5:30 with dinner provided.

Voters in the Madras Aquatic Center Recreation District will decide on August 4 whether to recall four members of the district’s board of directors. Ballots will be mailed beginning today. Completed ballots must be returned to the Jefferson County Clerk by 8 p.m. on Election Day, August 4, or be postmarked by August 4 and received within the state’s allowed timeframe to be counted.
