Funeral Services for Chief Joseph Moses will begin on Monday (8/31) with a 1:30pm Dressing at the Agency Longhouse. Open Denomination Services will follow with a dinner at 5:30 and 7pm Washut Services. Breakfast will be served at 7am Tuesday (9/1. They will depart the Agency Longhouse at 9am for burial at the Simnasho Cemetery.
The Food Bank at the Warm Springs Commodities warehouse is open today from 10am to 1pm.
Friday is Senior Lunch Day in Warm Springs. Elk Chili is on the menu. Free meals for elders 60 and older are from noon to 1 every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday in the Senior Wellness Center dining room.
On the Madras High Sports schedule today – Football has a Jamboree at Cottage Grove High School & Boys Soccer are at a Jamboree at Junction City High School.

The Metolius Friends Food Pantry is open to all on Fridays from 4-6pm at 575 Hood Ave. You do need to bring your own bags.
The co-ed 3-on-3 basketball tournament for cancer prevention that was scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed.
A local group is holding weekly rallies to help energize local voters. They are gathering every Saturday morning from 10:30 to noon at the North Y in Madras to encourage community participation in the upcoming general election. These weekly rallies will run through October 31st. Everyone is welcome to join.
A Spirit Fest summer potluck picnic will take place this Saturday (8/29) 10am to 6pm at the Warm Springs Campus Pavilion. Bring your favorite salad or side dish. For more information contact Janice Smith 541-325-3040.
Forestry and the Timber Committee are holding a public meeting Tuesday, September 1st from 6-8pm at the old school cafeteria. They will discuss free-use, resale firewood, boughs, cones & Christmas trees. Folks are encouraged to show up with questions and concerns. A meal will be provided.
The Back to School BBQ & Family Resource Fair at the Warm Springs K-8 Academy will be held on Thursday, September 3 from 4-6pm. It’s a chance to connect with teachers and staff from the 509J school district. Everyone is welcome.
The next legal clinic in Warm Springs is on Tuesday, September 8th from 9am to noon at the Community Action Team building. Free civil legal help is available for those who qualify, including wills, estate planning, expungement, tenant and employee rights, domestic violence protection, and public benefits. To schedule, call 541-668-8352. Walk‑ins are welcome. The clinic is provided by the Native American Program of Legal Aid Services of Oregon.
Warm Springs Higher Education Department is reminding tribal scholarship students that they should apply for the Oregon Tribal Student Grant. It can pay for most or all public college-related expenses not covered by other grants for students pursuing their first Associate, Bachelor’s, or Graduate degree. Students who have already applied are encouraged to make sure that their application is complete and accepted by the September 30th deadline.
