  • Tribal Council will hear budget presentations again today. This morning will be Human Resources; Natural Resources Budget; and Tribal Court. This afternoon will be the Chief Operations Officer Budget, followed by the Museum at Warm Springs Board Budget. The final item on the agenda is Warm Springs Tribal Gaming Regulatory Authority.
  • Today is Tribal Member Appreciation Day at Kah-Nee-Ta Hot Resort. They will have free admission for Tribal members every Wednesday through September.
  • Registration is open through today for the Wyam Youth Center’s first Indigenous Youth Fashion Show. The event will be this Friday (8/14) at the old elementary school gym. Dinner is at 5, and the show opens at 6. There will be a photographer, local drum group performance by NDN Boyz and raffles of Wyam Youth Center’s handmade items.   • There is a senior lunch today at noon at the Warm Springs Senior Center dining area. Senior meals are free for all elders age 60 and older. Folks can join the seniors for lunch – it’s $1 for Youth, $5 for adults or you can assist with clean-up after the meal.
  • Today is the Free Food Market at the Madras Community Food Pantry, located at 370 SW Culver Highway. Signups will begin at 4 and doors open at 4:30
  • The Warm Springs Community Wellness Center gym is reserved exclusively for youth from 5-7pm. The Summer Recreation Department is inviting everyone 17 and under to drop in for a variety of activities, including games, fun fitness routines, and agility and strength training. The evening youth hours run Monday through Friday at the Community Center.
  • The August Drummers Jam & Social Powwow scheduled for tonight has been postponed until a later date.
  • The Young Adults in Transitions Drop-In Center in Madras is open to people between 14 and 25 years old to hang out, build connections, and get help with next steps in life. It offers support for: mental health & well-being, education & career planning, employment readiness, housing resources, healthy relationships, budgeting & financial literacy, life skills—and so much more. It’s open Wednesdays & Saturdays, 3-7PM for youth ages 14–18 who are currently in school and Saturdays, 10AM–2PM for young adults ages 18–25 not in school. It’s located at: 241 SW 6th Street, Madras.

The Wasco County Fair and Rodeo has been cancelled for this year due to active fire danger and severe smoke from the Grasshopper Fire.  The Fair and Rodeo board will meet to explore possibilities for possibly hosting specific fair events at a later date.

There is an ECE Round-up at the Warm Springs Health & Wellness Center Thursday (8/13). These physicals include medical, dental & optometry clinics for Head Start and ECE kids who will be 3 or 4 on or by September 1st. Appointments are required – call 541-553-2610 to schedule. Families can register for Head Start by stopping by the Warm Springs ECE Center or call 541-553-3241.

The Thursday Market is tomorrow from 10:30am – 2pm at the Campus Pavillion.  Vendors are welcome to come set up.  It’s first come, first serve for available tables and chairs.  Emergency Management will have a free clothing giveaway with men’s, women’s, and kids’ clothing, as well as bedding and everything needs to go! Pick up for Veggie Rx participants will be at the Thursday Market from 11 am – 2 pm. Please check in with Barbara at the HDFFA table. And if you are eligible and opted in, delivery will begin around 2:30 pm.

A Celebration of Life for Wauna Calica will be held tomorrow (Thu, Aug. 13th) at 9am at the Old Elementary School Gym.  Burial will follow at the Agency Cemetery with a meal after at the Agency Longhouse.

A Celebration of Life for Keith Baker will be held on Saturday, August 15th at 2pm at the campus pavilion. A potluck and giveaway will follow a short memorial service.

COIC is holding a Statewide Transportation Improvement Fund or STIF Advisory Committee meeting in Warm Springs on Tuesday, August 18th. It will be from 11:30-1 at the Family Resource Center.

A Fish & Wildlife Memorial Dinner has been set for Tuesday, August 18th at the Hehe Longhouse. It will start at 5pm with 1 seven, followed by dinner and a brief giveaway. This is a release for hunters and fishermen for the upcoming seasons due to the recent losses of chiefs and relatives serving on the Fish & Wildlife Committee.

Warm Springs Prevention is hosting the Wings Track Meet on Tuesday, August 18th at the Warm Springs K-8 Track. Registration kicks off at 5pm, and events get underway at 6. There are age divisions for—2 to 5, 6 to 9, and 10 and up. Every participant gets a t-shirt and a medal.

The next legal clinic in Warm Springs is on Monday, September 1st from 9am to noon at the Community Action Team building. Free civil legal help is available for those who qualify, including wills, estate planning, expungement, tenant and employee rights, domestic violence protection, and public benefits. To schedule, call 541-668-8352. Walk‑ins are welcome. The clinic is provided by the Native American Program of Legal Aid Services of Oregon.
