The Warm Springs K-8’s October awards assemblies are today in the gym. The 3rd-5th grade assembly is at 8:15, kinder-2nd grade starts at 9 and the 6th-8th grade assembly is at 10.
On the senior lunch menu today is chicken enchilada soup. Senior meals are from noon to 1 every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday in the Senior Center dining room.
A Narcotics Anonymous meeting takes place each Friday at noon at the Warm Springs Behavioral Health Center.
The Warm Springs Health and Wellness Center is doing open flu clinics. You can get your flu shot Monday and Tuesday plus Thursday and Friday 8am – 12pm OR Monday through Friday 1-3pm. Appointments are not needed. Pregnant Women, Young Children, Elders and anyone with health conditions like diabetes, asthma, and heart disease are especially vulnerable from seasonal flu. Protect yourself and your loved ones by getting vaccinated.
Today’s the final day of registration for Warm Springs Recreation’s 3rd, 4th & 5th grade flag football. Stop by the Community Center to do that. Practice will begin on Monday next week.
Today in Madras High School sports action – Varsity Football will play on the road in La Grande.
The Confederated Tribes, Oregon State University-Cascades in Bend, and OSU Extension will host a two-day Indigenous People’s event today and tomorrow at the OSU-Cascades Bend campus. The Lincoln’s Powwow Committee will present a Native fashion show this evening. A salmon bake will be at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
The Jefferson County Library will show A Man Called Otto, rated PG-13 for its Friday Film Night. Admission is free and the movie starts at 7 tonight.
Fundraisers for the Madras High School of 2024 All Night Graduation Party are happening tomorrow from 9 to 5 in the Les Schwab parking lot. It’s a can & bottle drive, Krispy Kreme donut sale and a Tillamook pepperoni & teriyaki beef stick sale.
Headstone unveilings will take place tomorrow at the Agency Cemetery. The first is at 10am for Kishon Graybael, and then for Carolyn Lawrence immediately following. There will be a meal after at the Agency Longhouse. There will not be a giveaway.
The Native American Student Union at Madras High School meets every Wednesday. Students are invited to join for arts & crafts, guest speakers, resources, food, raffles and more. Their next meeting on October 11th will be held at noon in room 6 at MHS.
COCC will have GED classes in Warm Springs at the Education Building on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9-12 noon. Registration is open until October 11th. Call Stephina Brewer 541-316-5813 for more information.
Thursday, October 12th a field tour of two projects on the reservation will be conducted – the Seekseequa Fuels Reduction Project and the Sentinel Forest Vegetation Management Project. To attend, meet at the Branch of Natural Resources parking lot at 8am. The tour will be a full day and people should be prepared for rain or cool temperatures. Transportation, food and drinks will be provided.
The Great Pumpkin Party will take place on October 18 at the Community Center social hall.
Warm Springs Recreation is hosting the Spooky Indian Nite Out & Drummerz Jam Session on Monday October 23rd at the Warm Springs Community Center gymnasium.
The Community Wellness Center will have its annual Zombie Walk and Tribal Employee Costume Contest on Halloween.
Warm Springs Recreation’s Trunk or Treat and Halloween Carnival will be open from 4-6:00 on Halloween at the ball fields behind the community center.
NAPOLS, Legal Aid Services of Oregon & the Warm Springs Community Action Team are offering Wills and Legal intake Clinics on Wednesday October 25th from 9am until 3pm, at the Community Action Team Office on Campus.
