  • The Timber Committee is scheduled to meet this morning from 8:30-noon at the Forestry Admin Office and the Land Use Planning Committee from 1:30-4:30 in the Cougar Den at Natural Resources. Both committees meet twice monthly on the 2nd and 4th
  • On the Tribal Council agenda this morning – Board Appointments from 9-12.
  • Senior Fitness Class at the Senior Center is every Monday and Thursday morning at 10:45 with a lunch for participants after.
  • The Hydro Panel Facility in the Industrial Park is open today for free drinking water. Warm Springs community members can stop by between 8am and 5pm to fill their containers.
  • Today is Late Start Monday for all 509J students. Schools will open 90 minutes later than normal.
  • On the Madras High School athletics schedule today:
    • Boys Basketball has a home game vs. Molalla
      • JV2 plays at 4pm
      • JV tips off at 5:30pm
      • Varsity starts at 7pm – KWSO will have a live broadcast from the Buffalo Dome
    • Girls Basketball travels to Molalla
      • JV will play at 5:30pm
      • Varsity is at 7pm

Warm Springs community members are invited to attend a meeting and dinner to learn about the Speedway & Saddle Butte Hybrid Wind & Solar Projects and to participate in the Tribal cultural review process for these projects. The meeting is being hosted by Warm Springs GeoVisions in coordination with the Tribal Historic Preservation Office. It will be tomorrow (Jan. 27) 6-8pm at the Greeley Heights Community Building. The Community Center is having an Elk Bugling Contest on Wednesday (Jan. 28). Prizes will be awarded for both adult & children – first place & runner up. Sign-ups will begin at 6pm in the gym.

Warm Springs Housing Authority has mailed out update forms to everyone on their waitlist. The “Statement of Continued Interest” must be filled out and returned no later than 4pm on January 30th. Failure to do so will result in removal from the Housing waitlist. If you haven’t received your update in the mail, contact the Housing office.

KWSO’s annual Mt. Hood Meadows – Warm Springs Tribal Day is coming up Monday, February 2nd, a no school day.  Anyone interested in participating to ski, snowboard, cross country ski, or snowshoe can sign up now. To sign up, email sue.matters@wstribes.org with the name, date of birth, phone number and email address for each person who will be participating and whether or not anyone, age 4 or older, will need a beginner lesson. You also need to complete the online liability release form and a Group Consent Form for each participant. Get details about the trip and access forms at KWSO.org.

Walking in Beauty through Difficult Times: A Talk by Diné Elder Lupita McClanahan is coming to Warm Springs. Raised in secrecy by traditional elders in Arizona, Lupita was hidden to preserve her family’s lineage from the boarding school system. Though eventually taken, she drew on her cultural strength to endure and overcome unimaginable challenges. Everyone is welcome to hear her stories Tuesday, February 3rd at the Museum at Warm Springs. There will be a meet & greet starting at 4:00, followed by storytelling. It’s free to attend.

2026 Lincoln’s Powwow is February 13-15 at the Simnasho Longhouse. Grand entry times are 7pm Friday, 1pm Saturday and 1:30 on Sunday. Specials will include a Men’s 18+ All Around Honoring Beloved Powwow Member Jermayne Tuckta, a Women’s 18+ Pathlapa Special by the Slockish Family honoring Suzie Slockish and a Men’s 18+ Chicken Dance Special by the Boise Family honoring Triston Boise. Seasonal vaccines are available at the Warm Springs I H S clinic. Flu vaccine is recommended for everyone age 6 months and older. RSV vaccine is recommended for infants, pregnant women and elders. Vaccine clinic hours are daily from 9:30-11:30am, except on Wednesdays and daily from 1:30-3:30pm. Appointments are not necessary.

The Warm Springs Tribes offers an emergency notification system but folks need to opt in to receive messages.  In the event of winter weather impacts on roads making travel hazardous for employees, there could be changes to work or service hours.  The alert system communicates information to employees and the general public via e-mail messages.  To participate you can sign up online or contact the Tribes’ Office of Information Systems.

Anyone interested in using the Community Center facilities including the social hall or the pavilion should complete a building use request that can be picked up at the Recreation Office.  Call 541-553-3243 if you have questions.
