June Senior Pension Checks are in process and should be good to go on schedule. Anyone who still has questions about their May Senior Pension Check can stop by or call Vital Stats at 541-553-3252.
The Warm Springs Commodities Food Bank, located at 4217 Holliday Street in the Industrial Park, is open 10 until 1 today.
The Madras Community Food Pantry at 370 SW Culver Highway is open 10-1 today.
Warm Springs Behavioral Health has groups every Wednesday that are open to the public. At 10am is A&D Education in the conference room. At 3:00 is Building Relationships group. And there is a Wellbriety meeting & book study at 4. Also on Wednesday afternoons at 4, there’s an A&D Education group for adults and the Youth Wellbriety Program meets. Both of those are for current BHC clients.
Today is Senior Lunch from noon to 1 at the Warm Springs Senior Building. On the menu – ground beef & onions, mashed potatoes, steamed veggies & canned fruit.
The Jefferson County Senior Center in Madras will serve lunch today for folks 60 & older.
Warm Springs Community Health Program has a hand sewing circle that meets every Tuesday at noon in the I H S atrium. Lunch and supplies are provided for participants. For more info contact Charlene 541-553-2352 or Charlene.Moody@wstribes.org.
Division of Child Support employees will be in Warm Springs this afternoon at the DHS office providing in-person assistance with completing forms and answering questions about child support. They are there on the first Tuesday of every month from 1-3pm. Walk-ins and appointments are welcome. The Sacred Road Kids Program is back in Warm Springs for kids in kindergarten through 6th grade behind the Community Center. It’s from 3-5pm today through Friday and includes games, crafts, snacks and bible story. No registration is necessary, kids can just show up. They will have the program every other week through the end of July.
The Branch of Natural Resources Fisheries program will be passing out fish to Warm Springs Tribal Member Employees today starting at 4:30 pm in the BNR parking lot across from the wash rack. There is a limit of 4 fish per family and you must be a tribal member and an employee to receive fish. You can get 4 fish for another tribal employee who could not make it but you must go to the back of the line to receive the second fish. Please have your tribal ID and enrollment card ready and bring your own bags or coolers. The fish will be coming from Little White Salmon National Fish Hatchery
The Warm Springs Johnson O’Malley Committee’s next scheduled meeting is today 5:15-8pm in conference room at the Early Childhood Education Center. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month. If you need to contact the JOM Committee email JOM@wstribes.org.
SriPonya Collective presents the Brothers & Sisters in Progress Steps to Freedom Re-entry group Tuesdays from 5:30-7pm at the Jefferson County Library in Madras. It’s a peer-led weekly support group where people returning from prison build a healthy support system. There is also a Zoom option to attend. Every 2nd Tuesday the group meets virtually only. Shawnetta Yahtin will hold her monthly Talking Circle in the Health & Wellness Center atrium from 9-10am tomorrow (Jun 3). Light snacks are provided.
The Plateau Travel Plaza is reopening soon and wants to showcase Warm Springs tribal arts, crafts, and family keepsakes for a 3 to 6 month period! They are now accepting proposals of items along with the story and or history of it. You can email Margie Tuckta or stop by to see her in the HR office at Indian Head Casino. The deadline to submit is tomorrow at 2pm
The kindergarten through 5th grade Egg Drop at the Warm Springs K-8 Academy is this Thursday (Jun 4). Families are welcome to watch. Here are the egg drop times: 10:30-11 Kindergarten, 11:40-12:10 4th Grade, 12:30-1 5th Grade, 1-1:30 3rd Grade, 1:30-2 2nd Grade and 2:15-2:45 1st Grade.
The 21st Century Club is winding down for the school year. The Rise and Shine program has ended and the last day for the afterschool program will be this Thursday (Jun 4). On Thursday, 21st Century will be hosting a Family Engagement Field Day. This event is open to any family members of students enrolled in the 21st Century program. The event will run from 4:00-5:20 pm. They are seeking volunteers for this event. If community members are interested in volunteering, contact Angi Grubbs, Site Coordinator, at 541-553-1563.
The 2026 Pi-Ume-Sha Traditional Parade “Honoring the Horses” will be held on Saturday, June 27th. Lineup for participants will start at 10am with judging at 10:15. The parade begins at 11 at the campus and ends at the powwow grounds. Divisions for judging will be adult, teen and youth in these categories – walkers, traditional floats, contemporary floats & horse riders. Tenants of Warm Springs Housing Authority who require emergency repairs after hours or on weekends/holidays need to contact Warm Springs PD Dispatch and request Housing’s on-call service. A qualifying emergency service would be a broken water line, backed up sewer, any electrical issues and kicked-in exterior doors. All other non-emergency work orders can be taken care of on the next business day.
