Pi-Ume-Sha Treaty Days Parade to shine a spotlight on horses this June

Pi-Ume-Sha Treaty Days in Warm Springs is coming up June 26-28, 2026, and will include the annual traditional parade. This year, organizers are shining a special spotlight on horses. The parade theme is “Honoring the Horses.” Organizers are calling on the community to bring out their animals to showcase their beauty and cultural importance. Whether they are traditional, ranch, rodeo, family, or therapy horses, the goal is to celebrate the impact these animals have on daily life. In a statement, organizers shared that horses have always been a central part of the people’s way of life, culture, healing, and identity.

Community members are encouraged to showcase:

• Traditional regalia and horse masks
• Sacred paint designs
• Cowboy and ranch-style riders
• The next generation of youth riders

Organizers say this year is all about honoring the strength, beauty, spirit, and connection between the people and the horse—ensuring they are seen, celebrated, and remembered “in a good way.”

The parade will still feature its traditional lineups of walkers and floats with divisions for adults, teens, and youth. Thanks to strong sponsorship from the local community and surrounding areas, organizers note they are excited to show extra appreciation to this year’s participants for sharing their traditions. If you are planning to ride or drive a float, Registration opens Friday, June 26th at 3pm at the powwow grounds and will close on the morning of the parade at 10:00 sharp. All participants must be registered to join.

Leading the procession this year as the 2026 Grand Marshals will be representatives from the Traditional Horses and the Rodeo Committee. Everyone is invited to come out, enjoy the parade, support the riders, and celebrate a timeless bond.
