  • In Madras – The Madras Elks Breakfast starts at 7am. The Todd Beamer Run starts then as well. Vendors will be setup from 9am until noon.  The Parade is at 10am and Madras Sparklers Fireworks will start at 10pm.  Fireworks will be at the high school with all other events at Sahalee Park.
  • In Warm Springs – The theme is “250 Years of America, Time Immemorial Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs.”
    • There is a 5k fun run/walk starting at 8am, with registration opening at 7:30 at the Community Center.
    • Charles is sponsoring a breakfast for veterans at the old school cafeteria from 8-10:30am.
    • Parade festivities begin with a 9am lineup at the old elementary school, followed by float judging at 10 and the parade starts at 11.
    • After the parade, head to the Community Center for a BBQ at noon, a horseshoe tournament at 12:30, and family fun games on the fields starting around 1:30.
    • The celebration will conclude with a fireworks display at dusk.
    • At 10pm, there will be a drone show at the Community Center ball fields. At that time – for everyone’s safety – all fireworks need to stop until the show is over. So, if you have your own fireworks and set them off in Warm Springs – please remember to stop at 10 tonight so everyone can enjoy the drone show safely.  The drone show will last about 15 minutes.
  • The Madras Saturday Market is happening today starting at 9 and going until 2:00 at Sahalee Park. It is open to local vendors – visit SaturdayMarketMadras.com of find them on Facebook & Instagram for more information.
  • The Simnasho Tribal Market is open Saturdays and Sundays 10am – 2pm through Labor Day weekend, by the Simnasho Longhouse.  Tribal Vendors are welcome and visitors are encouraged.
  • KWSO will be broadcasting the Waterfront Blues Festival from Portland – from noon until around 10pm today. The broadcast is courtesy of KBOO radio and in collaboration with Oregon Community Media.  Following the blues – we will have a special 4th of July edition of the KWSO oldies show!

A Columbia River Zone 6 Commercial Gillnet Fishery will open at 6am Monday, July 6th to 6pm Wednesday, July 8th. Gear can be set and drift gillnets with a 7-inch minimum mesh size.

There is Tai Chi class on Monday, July 6th from 6-7pm in the Community Center aerobics room. It’s free and all skill levels are welcome.

The Plateau Travel Plaza is having a private soft grand opening event for Warm Springs Tribal Members on Monday, July 6th starting at 10am until 7pm. There will be a promotional fuel discount, free refreshments & giveaways, a full menu & discount available in the Three Teepee’s Café and other prizes, photo opportunities and activities for youth. The public grand opening will be on Saturday, July 11th from noon until 9 p.m. Warm Springs Tribal Member arts and craft vendors are still being sought for this event. Vendors must provide their own pop-up canopy, table, and chairs. To learn more or reserve a space, contact Janell at 541-460-7729.

A free legal clinic will be held in Warm Springs on Monday, July 6th, from 9am to noon at the Warm Springs Community Action Team building. Services include help with wills, estate planning, expungement, tenant and employee rights, domestic violence protection, and public benefits for those who qualify. To make an appointment, call 541-668-8352. Walk‑ins are welcome, but wait times may vary. The clinic is provided by the Native American Program of Legal Aid Services of Oregon. There will also be clinics August and September.

Warm Springs OSU Extension’s Summer Fruit Loop Tour is on Wednesday, July 8th. They will depart from the Education Building at 8am and visit several orchards along the Hood River Fruit Loop. Bring a lunch, snacks, water and money for purchasing produce. Transportation is available or you may drive your own vehicle and follow. Contact Sara Olson at 541-553-3238 and let her know you want to participate.

The Community Health Program is offering a free education session on dementia behaviors presented by OHSU. It will be on July 15th from noon until 4 in the old school cafeteria. Light snacks will be provided.

Tenants of Warm Springs Housing Authority who require emergency repairs after hours or on weekends/holidays need to contact Warm Springs PD Dispatch and request Housing’s on-call service. A qualifying emergency service would be a broken water line, backed up sewer, any electrical issues and kicked-in exterior doors. All other non-emergency work orders can be taken care of on the next business day.

The Warm Springs Police Department has temporarily contracted Frontier Regional 911 to assist with dispatch during overnight hours. Frontier is handling all 911 and emergency dispatch services for the Warm Springs PD between the hours of 6pm and 6am. During these hours, community members who need non-emergency assistance from the police department should call 541-384-2080.
