Tribal Council Agenda: This morning – Secretary-Treasurer/CEO Update; Chief Operations Officer Update; October Agenda/Travel Delegations/Review Minutes. This afternoon – Draft Resolutions; Enrollments; Legislative Update Call.
The Health & Welfare Committee is scheduled to meet today from 9am until noon at the clinic and the Education Committee from 5:30-7:30pm at the Wyam Youth Center. Both committees meet every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month.
Senior Fitness Class at the Senior Center is every Monday and Thursday morning at 10:45 with a lunch for participants after.
Free Dental Clinics are happening this week in the Old School Cafeteria. Today from 11am to 4pm. Tuesday (9/22) from 9am-2pm. Wednesday (9/23) from 9am to 2pm. Services provided include dental extractions & fillings. No appointment necessary. Services are provided at no cost.
Fall term GED classes in Warm Springs begin this week at the Education Building. You can register during this first week of classes. Classes are on Mondays and Wednesdays noon til 3 at the Warm Springs Education Building and 3-7 at the COCC Madras Campus.
The Helping Hand Food Pantry is open today from 12:30 to 4PM at Warm Springs Presbyterian Church on a first-come, first-served basis, and please bring your own bags.
Warm Springs K8 Volleyball teams play at Obsidian Middle School in Redmond today starting at 3:15.
Madras High School Volleyball teams play at Estacada today at 4:30 & 6. JV Football has a home game at 5:30 vs. Estacada.
Warm Springs Community Health’s Mobile Medical Clinic will be located at the Simnasho Fire Station on Tuesday (9/22) from 10am to 3pm. They can help with medical problems, medications, STI tests, and – by appointment – procedures. Walk-ins and appointments are welcome. Call 541-553-2352 to schedule.
The Oregon Employment Department’s mobile WorkSource Oregon center will be in Warm Springs at the Community Center parking lot from 9:30-3:30 on Tuesday (9/22).
The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs will host a Huckleberry Habitat Management Workshop on Wednesday (9/23) from 10am to 2:15pm at the Hehe Longhouse. The gathering invites tribal members and traditional harvesters to share knowledge, concerns, and priorities around huckleberry stewardship on culturally important landscapes. Tribal members are encouraged to attend and help guide the future of huckleberry habitat in and around Warm Springs.
The Madras-Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce is coordinating local Candidate Forums. Tuesday (9/22) at 6:30pm will be a forum for Jefferson County Sheriff candidates at Ranch Chapel in Crooked River Ranch. People need to submit questions for the candidates for consideration to MadrasChamber@gmail.com before the events.
Warm Springs Higher Education Department is reminding Warm Springs college students that they should apply for the Oregon Tribal Student Grant. It can pay for most or all public college-related expenses not covered by other grants for students pursuing their first Associate, Bachelor’s, or Graduate degree. Students who have already applied are encouraged to make sure that their application is complete and accepted by the September 30th deadline. For questions and assistance, visit OregonStudentAid.gov.
The 2027 Warm Springs Tribal Employee Open Enrollment Period runs from October 1st through the 29th. This annual window is your single chance to update your medical, dental, vision, and life insurance policies, as well as your flex accounts and 401(k) plan. Open Enrollment ends October 29th. BendFilm and the Wyam Youth Center will feature a screening of the movie Smoke Signals in Warm Springs on Friday, October 9th at 4:30. Actress Tantoo Cardinal, who plays Arlene Joseph (Victor’s Mom) in the film, will be in attendance for a panel and meet & greet after the screening. Following that, at 7:30, they will also show a Narrative Shorts Showcase screening to kick off Wyam Event for Bend Film Festival. Saturday, October 10th at 5pm BendFilm will show The River Remembers & First Descent: Kayaking the Klamath at 5pm, and then a Documentary Shorts Showcase at 7.
