Funeral Arrangements for Michelle Rae Umtuch

  • Dressing is Friday (5/10) at 2pm at Colonial Funeral Home in Toppenish
  • Overnight Services at Satus Shaker Church
  • Burial is on Saturday (5/11) they will leave at 8am to the Umtuch Logie Cemetery

 Friday 5/10

  • Movin’ Mountains participants have final weigh-ins today at the Jefferson County Public Health department in Madras from 8am to 6pm and again Saturday from 9-2.
  • It is Honor Seniors Day today at the Agency Longhouse. Registration for seniors begins at 9am. There is a continental breakfast at 9, ECE will have a mini-powwow at 10am, lunch is at noon, snack at 3:00 and dinner at 5. Senior citizens eat for free, all others cost $5. Contact the Senior Program if you would like to help out – 541-553-3313.
  • The Warm Springs Behavioral Health Center is offering a new group – “On Second Thought” is a 12-week series about addiction and brain function. It starts this morning from 10-11am in the conference room at Behavioral Health.
  • There is a Behavior Health Walk-In Clinic today – appointments are available between 1 and 5pm. The Medical Social Workers at the clinic can help with screenings, assessments, crisis intervention and many other things for children, adolescents and adults.
  • The Jefferson County Library Film Center will show the movie The Westerner for its Friday night movie. It’s free to attend. It will be shown at 7:30 in the Rodriguez Annex next to the Library in Madras.

Saturday 5/11

  • Warm Springs Recreation’s spring yard sale is tomorrow from 9am to 4pm at the Community Center.

Make a plan for your family so everyone understands how to communicate and connect in the event of a wildfire or other emergency situation.  Have a printed out list of contact information for everyone in the family, for schools, relatives and friends.  Make sure emergency contact information is current at schools and daycare.  And talk about emergency meeting locations – where your family can get together.  This is one thing you can do to be prepared for wildfire season.

Warm Springs Higher Education reminds students who are applying for the Tribal Scholarship that the Tribal Scholarship deadline is July 1st. Talk to Carroll at the Higher Ed office for more information.

Childbirth Education Class is held Wednesdays from noon – 1pm at the Family Resource Center.  This is a 3 week series that focuses on Pregnancy – Labor & Delivery – and Mom & Baby Care.  To learn more or find out when the series starts, contact Allie Anderson, MCH Nurse at 541-553-2460.

The stone setting for Debbie Scott, April Scott & Grace Kalama is postponed until September.

The US Census Bureau is hiring census takers for the 2020 Census in Warm Springs. Hourly wages are around $15 an hour with weekly paydays. This income will not affect a person’s TANF or SNAP benefits or HUD eligibility. Applications are due by May 31. Click on Apply Now at 2020census.gov/jobs or call 1-855-562-2020 for assistance.

The Warm Springs K-8 middle school art classes would like to learn local, Native crafts–especially beading. They are looking for several local volunteers to come in and help teach beading or another craft to the students.
