KWSO radio is off the air until repairs can be made to our studio transmitter link.  We have our fingers crossed that the part we need, will arrive this afternoon and we will be able to successfully install it.

In other news…

Passenger rail service has been halted in the Portland and Seattle areas as wet, windy weather moves through the Northwest. Amtrak closed tracks between Portland, Oregon, and Vancouver, Washington, because of high waters north of Portland Union Station. Passengers using the Amtrak Cascades service will be taken by bus around the closed areas. Coast Starlight and Empire Builder trains will be rerouted through the area.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office is joining an FBI-led anti-terrorism task force. Sheriff Craig Roberts says he’ll assign a deputy full-time to the Portland-area’s Joint Terrorism Task Force. The deputy will regularly brief a manager who has a top secret security clearance and will be able to consult with a lawyer about complying with the Oregon constitution and state laws.

As Oregon conservationists turn their attention to the monarch butterfly, field research has found that there are more of the colorful insects in the state than once thought. The Bulletin reports that researchers found 125 adult monarchs and more than 300 caterpillars. Before the data was collected, there were only four or five known spots for monarchs. The survey found about 30 sites.

LeBron James scored 33 points and the Cleveland Cavaliers rallied from an 18-point first-half deficit to beat the Portland Trail Blazers 105-100 last night. Damian Lillard scored 33 points to lead Portland, which appeared to run out of gas as Cleveland came back in the second half. C.J. McCollum added 24 points for the Trail Blazers.

The Madras White Buffalo boys basketball team held their home opener last night, hosting Sisters.  Madras had the early lead but the Outlaws battled back and won 41-37.  Kanim Smith III scored a game-high 15 points for the Buffs.  The next game for the Madras boys is tonight when Philomath visits the Buffalodome.

The Lady White Buffalo won on the road in Sisters 52-37.  Lynnden Harry scored 21 points, Kaliyah Iverson added 11 and Kiersten Anderson put up 7 points.  These Madras top scorers are all sophomores.  The team is young but seasoned.  The girls play at home next Tuesday, hosting Redmond.
