Oregon Housing and Community Services recently announced funding awards of more than $9 million that will give Oregonians with low incomes a pathway out of poverty through asset building. The funds will be distributed to nonprofit organizations, which comprise the Oregon Individual Development Account (IDA) Initiative. The Initiative supports people with low incomes to save for a home, a small business, their education and more. Last year, nearly 5,000 people participated in the program. This year, the Oregon IDA Initiative will include additional savings categories – retirement, paying down educational or medical debt, and much more. The Warm Springs Community Action Team received an award of $200,000. People in Warm Springs can find out more about the IDA program at the Community Action Team office on campus or by calling 541-553-3148.
