Madras High School Softball lost to in the season opener, 12-9. Mary Olney was 3-for-5 with two doubles and four RBIs for the White Buffaloes. Madras Baseball routed Bend JV 13-1 in 5 innings. Stout was 2-for-2 with three RBIs for Madras, and Kody Zemke went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Kanim Smith had two hits and drove in a run for the Buffs, and Byron Patt was 2-for-2.

The Warm Springs Police Department is reminding people that there is an anonymous tip line for community members to report criminal activity. The Tip Line is a phone line where there is no caller identification program attached. The caller can leave a message after the recorded message and it is checked daily by a staff member. Warm Springs Police are asking the community to assist in helping to fight and deter criminal activity. The Warm Springs Police Department Anonymous Tip Line number is 541-553-2202.

Warm Springs Tribal Members are invited to a pre-grand opening ceremonial blessing for the new Plateau Travel Plaza in Madras. It’s on Friday, March 23rd at 10am. It will open to the public the following day. A grand opening celebration is scheduled for April 6th.  The Plateau Travel Plaza is located at 215 NW Cherry Lane in the Jefferson County Industrial Park.

A meeting next week will give the Warm Springs Community a chance to learn about a recently submitted tribal grant that would go towards improvements of the Ball Fields behind the Community Center. You can go online to learn about the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department grant www.oregon.gov/oprd/grants. There will be an opportunity for public input at the meeting, which will be on Monday from 5:30 to 7:00 at the Greeley Height Community Building.
