KWSO Update on Water Issues

 Friday May 31, 2019 5am – updated 11:45am

A major water main break in Shitike Creek is impacting water users in Warm Springs.  This is causing a loss of pressure in the Agency Water System which triggered the issuing of a  Boil Water Notice. When water mains lose pressure it increases the chance that untreated water and harmful microbes can enter your water.   The protocol is to do a Boil Water Notice as a precaution when there is a loss of pressure.

This is impacting the Wolfe Point, Sunnyside, Upper Dry Creek, & Agency areas in Warm Springs that are on the Agency Water System.

The Warm Springs K-8 Academy will be closed again today due to the uncertainty of water pressure.  They will have a plan for school next week by the end of today.

Warm Springs Early Childhood Education will be closed through at least Monday, due to the Boil Water Notice.

Drinking water distribution will be open today at the old Warm Springs Elementary School until 6pm today (5/31).  Distribution Saturday & Sunday (6/1 & 6/2) will be 10am – 3pm.  There is water available to put in your own containers for non-consumption use (like for flushing toilets).  Everyone is encouraged to be prepared, for  a complete water shut off, by making sure you have both drinking water and water for other uses.

If you are a pet owner in Warm Springs in one of the areas affected by the Boil Water Order – you probably should boil water or use bottled water for your pet to ensure their health.

The Branch of Public Utilities is coordinating the repair with assistance from other programs and agencies. There is no estimate for how long it will be until the water is turned off or how long repairs will take but we will update information as new details become available.
