Work has started on the campus area to prepare the site for the moving of the Old Commissary Building. This includes removal of trees and asphalt from the lot located at the northeast corner of Paiute Avenue and Wasco Street. Additional work will be done on the campus area to remove hazardous trees located near tribal buildings and along the frontage area facing Highway 26.

KYNR – Yakama Nation radio is getting ready to go back on the air after an unexpected break, as KUOW’s Esmy Jimenez reports:

The month of August at Art Adventure Gallery will feature artists who live in and around Jefferson County. Artists may submit up to 4 pieces in any medium. Application forms are available at the gallery or online at www.artadventuregallery.com. Work can be dropped off any time during business hours the last week of July. The opening reception for the All Jefferson County Exhibit will be Thursday August 1st from 5:30-7PM.

The MAC Recreation District is getting ready for its second season of 5/6th grade tackle football. Local teams will participate as a part of the Central Oregon Recreational League which includes, Madras, Warm Springs, Culver, Sister, Prineville, & LaPine. The Registration deadline is July 16th and, no late registrations will be allowed. Gear Fitting and a parent meeting is set for July 16 @ 6pm. Gear issuing and weigh-ins will be August 15th.  Practice starts August 19 and Games will be played on on Saturdays from September 7 – October 26. Each Community will host home games. Uniforms, Helmets, Shoulder pads, and mouth pieces will be provided. They are also taking signups for youth fall flag football for kids ages 4-9. Register online at macrecdistrict.com.
