Public Utilities Renovations

If you have driven past the Public Utilities Office recently – you may have noticed that the oldest portion of the building has been stripped down to bare bones due to some water damage, and some much needed updating.

According to CTWS Branch of Public Utilities GM, Chico Holiday, the building has been gutted to address asbestos abatement both inside and out.

He notes the age of the building as is evident from the old lumber used in its construction.  That lumber was milled in Maupin.

At one point the Utilities facility had been a Dairy with cows grazing in the fields where the Community Center now stands.

Holiday was uncertain of the timeline for finishing the remodel, but one new addition is an electric car charging station.  The renovations will bring the 20^th century structure into the 21^st century.
