  • Enterprise Updates are on the Tribal Council agenda today. This morning – Local Housing Authority; Warm Springs Timber LLC; and High Lookee Lodge. This afternoon – Warm Springs Economic Development Corp; Indian Head Executive Director; ECE Compliance & Policy Council.
  • There’s a youth basketball camp this week at the Youth Center gym from 9:15-11:30am.
  • Free Summer Meals Today: No cost, no paperwork, just free food for local youth ages 1–18! Drop by Buff Elementary, Warm Springs Boys & Girls Club, or Bridges High School today for freshly prepared summer breakfast and lunch.
  • The Warm Springs Commodities Food Bank is open 10 until 1 today.
  • The Madras Community Food Pantry at 370 SW Culver Highway is open 10-1 today.
  • Warm Springs Behavioral Health has groups every Wednesday that are open to the public. At 10am is A&D Education in the conference room. At 3:00 is Building Relationships group. And there is a Wellbriety meeting & book study at 4. Also on Wednesday afternoons at 4, there’s an A&D Education group for adults and a the Youth Wellbriety Program meets. Both of those are for current BHC clients.
  • Today is Senior Lunch from noon to 1 at the Warm Springs Senior Building.
  • Warm Springs Community Health Program has a hand sewing circle that meets every Tuesday at noon in the I H S atrium. Lunch and supplies are provided for participants.
  • The Sacred Road Summer Program for kids in kindergarten through 6th grade is happening this week behind the Warm Springs Community Center. It’s from through Friday and includes games, crafts, snacks and bible story. No registration is necessary, kids can just show up. They will have the program every other week through the end of July.
  • Voters in the Madras Aquatic Center Recreation District will decide on August 4 whether to recall four members of the district’s board of directors. Eligible voters must be registered by today, and ballots will be mailed beginning tomorrow. Completed ballots must be returned to the Jefferson County Clerk by 8 p.m. on Election Day, August 4, or be postmarked by August 4 and received within the state’s allowed timeframe to be counted.
  • SriPonya Collective presents the Brothers & Sisters in Progress Steps to Freedom Re-entry group Tuesdays from 5:30-7pm at the Jefferson County Library in Madras. It’s a peer-led weekly support group where people returning from prison build a healthy support system. There is also a Zoom option to attend. Every 2nd Tuesday the group meets virtually only.   • Simnasho’s 23rd Annual Hot Summer Night Powwow & Encampment is happening today and tomorrow at the Simnasho Powwow Arbor. This evening there will be a weenie roast at 6, followed by new & rejoiners at 6:45 and the powwow at 7. Wednesday starts with a potluck barbecue dinner at 6pm and the powwow at 7pm. There are all kinds of specials planned over the 2 days including the sweep your teepee world championships, family team dance, round bustle, puth la pa, drummers relay and the annual running of the Simnasho Derby.

The Community Health Program is offering a free education session on dementia behaviors presented by OHSU. It will be tomorrow (7/15) from noon until 4 in the old school cafeteria. Light snacks will be provided.

Warm Springs Nation T-Ball Registration is being taken in person in the Family Resource Center conference room at the following dates/times: Wednesday, July 15 & Thursday, July 16 from 6-8pm and July 21-23 from 5:30-7:30pm. There is no cost to register for t-ball. Birth certificates are required to verify age. Kids need to be 6 or 7 to participate.

Papalaxsimisha’s pre-college summer series continues this Wednesday (7/15) at the old school cafeteria. Dinner is provided at 5:30 and the session is from 6-7:30. It’s a chance to get a head start on your college journey – learn about financial aid, applying to college, scholarships and get support on your path to college.

Warm Springs Community Health mobile medical clinics can help folks with medical problems, medications, STI tests and – by appointment – procedures. The next mobile medical clinic is this Thursday (7/16) from 10am to 3pm at the Simnasho Fire Station. There are also clinics scheduled for July 23rd at the Thursday Market and July 28th at the Shelter Dining Hall. Walk-ins & appointments are available with RaNeva Dowty, Dr. Frey & Nurse Shirley. Prevention is having a bingo night with prizes this Thursday (7/16) starting at 6:30pm at the campus pavilion.

The next Warm Springs legal clinic is coming up on Monday, August 3rd. It runs from 9am to noon at the Warm Springs Community Action Team building. Qualifying community members can receive free help with wills, estate planning, expungement, tenant and employee rights, domestic violence protection, and public benefits. Appointments are available at 541-668-8352. Walk‑ins are welcome. The clinic is offered by the Native American Program of Legal Aid Services of Oregon.
