- The Boil Water Notice for the Simnasho/Schoolie Flat water system has been lifted.
- The Madras Community Food Pantry will be open 10am to 1pm today. It’s located on the Culver Highway.
- The Life Raft Food Pantry located at 401 5th Street in Maupin serves the surrounding areas by providing food at no cost to the community Thursdays from 10AM – 3PM. The Dufur School Pantry is open to students and community members Thursdays from 4:30-6:30pm in the Home Ec Room at Dufur School. And the Neighbor-to-Neighbor Food Pantry on Emigrant Street in Wamic is open on the first and third Thursday of the month from 1-4pm.
- At the Senior Center – there is Senior Fitness Class this morning 10:45 to 11:45 with a lunch for participants after.
- There is a Committee Community Update meeting today at the Agency Longhouse. From 3-4:30 will be the Land Use Planning, Timber and Culture & Heritage Committees followed by a light meal. 5:30-6 will be the Education Committee & Water Control Board. A community giveaway will be done at 6.
The Mountain Star Resource Bus will be in Warm Springs tomorrow (Jan. 23) providing diapers, wipes & other supplies for families who are registered with their program. It will be parked at the Community Center from 10:30-2:30 on Friday.
Papalaxsimisha’s Women’s Craft Circle will meet tomorrow (Jan. 23) from noon until 2:00 in the Family Resource Center conference room. Women are invited to bring their craft projects to work on, visit and snack.
Warm Springs Tribal Appreciation Days at Kah-Nee-Ta Hot Springs Resort are offered on the first and last Sunday of each month. Tribal Member discounts include free admission for day use, half off of all cabana rentals, 25% off all food purchases and 10% off of pool house store items. Included in your day pass is – use of all 7 pools and cold tubs, mini golf, pickleball, basketball, bocce ball, spike ball, 4-square volleyball and interactive video games. The next Tribal Appreciation Days are coming up Sunday, January 25th and February 1st. Kah-Nee-Ta also offers daily Tribal Member discounts and amenities for day and twilight passes, cabana rentals, Spa Wanapine, overnight lodging, the Tribal Picnic Pavilions and Tribal Bathhouse. The Community Center is having an Elk Bugling Contest on Wednesday, January 28th. Prizes will be awarded for both adult & children – first place & runner up. Sign-ups will begin at 6pm in the gym.
KWSO’s annual Mt. Hood Meadows – Warm Springs Tribal Day is coming up Monday, February 2nd, a no school day. Anyone interested in participating to ski, snowboard, cross country ski, or snowshoe can sign up now. To sign up, email sue.matters@wstribes.org with the name, date of birth, phone number and email address for each person who will be participating and whether or not anyone, age 4 or older, will need a beginner lesson. The Community Health Program is having an Elder’s Fair on March 25th 9am to 3pm in the old school gym. There will be bingo & raffle prizes for participants from 10am until noon, and at noon a lunch will be provided in the old cafeteria. Dr. Morgon from OHSU will provide education on brain health, psychosis, aggressing & wandering in older adults with dementia from 1:30-3. The Tribal Member Art Exhibit will be on display at the Museum at Warm Springs through March 7th. The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9am to noon and 1-5pm. Stop by to see traditional, contemporary and video artwork from youth and adults of Warm Springs.
