Incoming 9th grade students at Madras High School have the opportunity to take part in the new Summer Bridge Program. The intent of the program is to allow new 9th graders to get a head start on high school by attending three weeks of introduction to some basic skill work as well as building relationships with staff and new classmates. Beginning Monday, August 8th, the program will run through August 25th and be held Monday through Thursday from 8:30am-12:30pm. During the four hours, students will work on reading, writing, math and some basic success skills specific to high school. Students will earn a half of an elective credit towards their graduation requirements if they have attended and participated on a regular basis. In addition to academics, there will be time to participate in some fall sports programs like soccer, football, volleyball and cross country plus experiences in the music and drama programs. Transportation for students will be provided. The school would like to see all of new incoming 9th graders to participate. Contact MHS to find out more.
