Grand entry time at the Lincoln’s Powwow in Simnasho today is scheduled for 1:30. Everyone is welcome.
Youth sports camps are held every Sunday in Warm Springs. The free camp offers agility training and open gym time for all youth ages 9-18 and will be held Sundays through April 19th from 12:30 to 2:30 in the old elementary gym.
Tomorrow is President’s Day, a federal holiday. There’s no school and the tribal organization will be closed.
Warm Springs Sanitation Drivers will be working their regular routes on Monday, February 16th – President’s Day. Please ensure all residential totes are set out at the end of the driveway, and assist family members or neighbors as needed.
A Language Immersion School for 3 & 4 year olds will open at the Presbyterian Church Tuesday, February 17th. They will be taking 8 students for the program which will offer language immersion in all 3 languages throughout the day. Limited seats are available. Call 541-553-3290 for any questions.
Community meetings to learn about a reservation-based drone testing site opportunity with Zipline have been scheduled for February 17, 18 & 19. Warm Springs Economic Development is seeking community input. The meetings will be 6-8pm on February 17th at the Seekseequa Fire Hall, February 18th at the Agency Longhouse and February 19th at the Simnasho Longhouse. Light dinners will be provided.
The Warm Springs Youth Council will have a meeting with the Governor’s office on Saturday, February 21st from noon to 2pm at the Wyam Youth Center. They will be discussing a project and funding opportunity for Oregon Tribal Youth Councils. Lunch will be provided. All youth ages 14-24 are welcome to join.
The Community Health Program is having an Elder’s Fair on March 25th 9am to 3pm in the old school gym. There will be bingo & raffle prizes for participants from 10am until noon, and at noon a lunch will be provided in the old cafeteria. Dr. Morgon from OHSU will provide education on brain health, psychosis, aggressing & wandering in older adults with dementia from 1:30-3. The Native Language Classes being offered at Warm Springs K-8 Academy after school program have been opened up to anyone in the community. Families are encouraged to join as a group. Children should be accompanied by an adult. Individuals are also welcome. Kiksht & Ichishkiin Language Classes are taught bay Radine & Ange on Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30-5:30 at the K8. Motorists are encouraged to reduce speed in areas where there is a lot of pedestrian traffic or bike traffic after dark. Going slower is one way to ensure the safety of those folks walking and biking. Stay safe out there.
