The Jefferson County Cowdeo is today at the fairgrounds in Madras. Gates open at 8am and opening ceremonies start at 8:30.

A Car Seat & Community Health Resource Fair is happening today at Jefferson County Public Health in Madras. From 10-3, folks can stop by for free certified car seat checks, free car seats for eligible families, pizza, raffle prizes, and community family resource booths.

A local group is holding weekly rallies to help energize local voters. They are gathering every Saturday morning from 10:30 to noon at the North Y in Madras to encourage community participation in the upcoming general election. These weekly rallies will run through October 31st. Everyone is welcome to join.

Community members are invited to come together this Sunday morning in Madras to honor military families who have made the ultimate sacrifice. A ceremonial fire will be lit outside the Madras Community Center at the Healing Circle Memorial on Sunday from 9 to 10:30am. The gathering marks Gold Star Mother’s and Family’s Day—a National Day of Recognition held annually to honor the mothers, fathers, and families who have lost loved ones in service to our country. Organizers encourage neighbors to drop by during the morning hours to pay their respects, spend a quiet moment by the fire, and support local Gold Star families.

Warm Springs Community Health’s Mobile Medical Clinic will be located at the Shelter Dining Hall on Tuesday (9/29) from 9-11:30AM. They can help with medical problems, medications, STI tests, and – by appointment – procedures. Walk-ins and appointments are welcome. Call 541-553-2352 to schedule.

KWSO is celebrating our 40th anniversary with a free screening of the award-winning documentary Bad Press. The film chronicles the courageous fight of Muscogee (Creek) Nation journalists as they defend the freedom of their press against attempts at censorship, highlighting the tension between tribal sovereignty and transparency while documenting the vital role of independent Indigenous media. Everyone is welcome to the event Wednesday, September 30th at the Madras Performing Arts Center. Doors open at 3pm with refreshments, the screening starts at 4 and a panel discussion will follow. Come join us!

Warm Springs Prevention is sponsoring the Every Child Matters Powwow Wednesday, September 30th at the Warm Springs K8 gym. There will be a meal at 5:30 and the powwow begins at 6:30. All singers, dancers & spectators are welcome.

The 2027 Warm Springs Tribal Employee Open Enrollment Period runs from October 1st through the 29th. Signing up for HMA medical coverage protects your financial future from costly emergency room visits while giving you access to everyday preventive care. Open Enrollment ends October 29th. Warm Springs Recreation’s Fall Round Up Yard Sale is on Friday, October 2nd in the front courtyard at the Community Center from 9-3. Call 541-553-3243 to reserve a table.

Division of Child Support employees will be at the Warm Springs DHS office providing in-person assistance with completing forms and answering questions about child support on Tuesday, October 6th from 1-3pm. The Museum at Warm Springs is calling for artwork for the 33rd Annual Tribal Member Art Exhibit showcasing Tribal Member Adult & Youth artists. The deadline to submit art for judging is Tuesday, October 20th at 5pm. The deadline for “display purposes only” is Tuesday, October 27th at 5. The exhibit will go on display on November 18th at the opening reception set for 5:30-7:30pm. Applications are available at the Museum at Warm Springs, which must be submitted with artwork.
