The Oregon Department of Education released its annual report cards for nearly 200 school districts and more than 12-hundred schools yesterday. Much of the news was bad: Graduation rates are still low, more students are dropping out, and they’re still struggling to meet or exceed state standards. But the effort to make sure 9th grade students are getting the credits they need to stay on track for graduation is seeing some success.

In prep sports last night in non league play – Madras beat Corbett 35-8 at White Buffalo Stadium. A successful rushing attack was key for the Buffs in the win. Brady Pattenaude scored two touchdowns including a 13-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Treyvon Easterling also scored two touchdowns with 208 yards rushing total. Catalino LeClaire scored the final touchdown of the game late in the fourth quarter.
The Buffs play at Crook County next Friday Night. The Cowboys lost to Gladstone 49-8 and Tri Valley league leader Estacada downed Molalla 34-6.

White Buffalo Tyler Anderson won at the Estacada Cross Country invitational yesterday. Genesis Lucei was 8th. Vanessa Culps finished 9th in the girls race. The Madras boys took third place and the girls were second as a team
