SALEM, Oregon – Flu season hasn’t relinquished its grip on the nation. In some parts of the country flu cases are on the rise. The Centers for Disease Control says the upswing in flu cases are strain B, not strain A that was so prevalent earlier in the season. Dr. Richard Lehman of the Oregon Health Authority says that’s not the case in Oregon. He says, “That may be in part because we actually had Influenza B kind of straight on through this flu season, so a lot of people may already be immune.” There are still large numbers of people carrying the flu virus, and Lehman says people who aren’t vaccinated continue to run a risk. The flu season, meanwhile, is expected to continue for several more weeks.
