Warm Springs Nation Little League Junior Softball all stars are playing for the state championship today at 3:30 in Clackamas at Riverside Park.

The Warm Springs Land Buy Back workers mailed the second wave of offers back in May and those offers are good through July 16. Through the Buy Back program, fractional interests in allotments are purchased from the tribal member owner, on behalf of the Confederated Tribes. The first wave of offers, earlier this year, saw a benefit to the tribes, and to the individual owners of the fractional interests. The Spilyay Tymoo reports he first wave allowed for the purchase of a total of 529 fractional interests from 161 separate owners, covering 1,260 acres of tribal land. These interests are now with the tribes. The total amount expended on these purchases was $723,000. And, there is still close to $3 million reported to be available for the second wave.

The 31st Waterfront Blues Festival kicked off yesterday at Tom McCall Waterfront Park in Portland, as did KWSO’s live-fed broadcast from the festival. The four-day-long concert series is filled with blues, soul, funk and r&b through Saturday evening with a headlining performance by George Thorogood and the Destroyers to wrap things up. The waterfront Blues Festival began in 1987.  Though the Oregon Food bank, which was historically the festival’s organizer, stepped away from the role this year, ticket sales still benefit the food bank.
