Community Calendar for Monday April 8, 2019

• The Kalispel Tribe has challenged Warm Springs to a 10-week physical activity challenge that will start today. Email michael.holyan@wstribes.org if you want to participate. There is no cost, just report your hours to Mike once a week.
• It is a regular late start Monday for 509J schools this morning.
• Tribal Council meets this morning to review minutes and resolutions, and then with the Community Action Team about Vital Tribal Economies and endorsing Oregon IDA. This afternoon there will be an update on the Veteran’s Memorial, a Tribal Attorney report and a meeting with the Cannabis Commission.
• Warm Springs Sanitation reminds residents to place their tote at the road. This will help them save time so they can do all the scheduled pick up with the staff and equipment they have available right now.  If you have questions – call the landfill at 553-3163.
• The Wellbriety “Celebrating Families” class for parents only is today from 9am until noon on the 3^rd floor at the Behavioral Health Center in the old Girls Dorm. Today’s topic is: Getting Starting.  You do need to be signed up for class to participate.  Call Paul or Sarah at 553-3205 to learn more.
• Senior fitness class is this morning at 10:45 at the Senior Center. Participants are invited to eat brunch after – today they are having egg salad sandwiches, steam broccoli and mixed fresh fruit.
• There is Women’s Prayer Group at the Presbyterian Church from 12:15-12:45 today. All women are welcome.
• Warm Springs Community Health at the Health & Wellness Center has a Behavior Health Clinic every Monday and Friday, walk-in appointments are available between 1 and 5pm. Services available include screenings, assessments, crisis intervention, and referrals to seek mental health and medical care, substance abuse treatment or other community resources. Children, adolescents and adults are welcome.
• The Vocational Rehabilitation Program will have an orientation session today at 3:00 in the Culture & Heritage Building conference room, 2^nd Those who cannot make it to one of the scheduled weekly sessions, call 541-553-4952 to  request a one-on-one orientation.
• Aglow Bible Study is this evening at High Lookee Lodge from 6:15-7:30. Everyone is welcome.

Tuesday 4/9

• The Range Committee meets tomorrow from 9am till noon in conference room 3 at the administration building.

 Wednesday 4/10

• There is Community Acupuncture this Wednesday in the Community Aerobics Room. Stop by anytime between 8 and 11:30am – it is free and open to anyone.
• Indian Head Casino is having blackjack dealer classes starting Wednesday at its Human Resources office. Classes will be held weekdays from 8am to 4pm for 4 weeks. Classes are necessary for certification needed to be a table games dealer. To sign up call 541-460-7714.
• The Native American Program Legal Aid Services of Oregon will have a walk-in intake clinic on Wednesday from 10am to noon at the Community Action Team office. Free civil legal service is available to eligible tribal members. Stop by to find out if the program can help with your legal need.
• The 8^th Annual Hands Around the Courthouse will be held Wednesday at 11am. Everyone is invited to join in the event taking a stand against Sexual Assault. Meet in front of the Tribal Courthouse. A light lunch will be provided.
• COCC will host a poetry reading Wednesday in honor of National Poetry Month. Oregon’s poet laureate Kim Stafford, Liz Woody and Jarold Ramsey will do readings from 6:30 to 8:30 at the Madras campus. It’s free, open to the public and refreshments will be provided.

Warm Springs Higher Education reminds students who plan to apply for the Tribal Scholarship that the Tribal Scholarship Early Bird deadline is May 1^st – students who turn in application packets by this date will be eligible for certain school supplies. The regular deadline is July 1^st. Talk to Carroll at the Higher Ed office for more information.
