  • Tribal Council is in session today hearing budget presentations from: the TERO Commission, TERO Office, Gaming Commission & Surveillance and Warm Springs Timber LLC in the morning. In the afternoon they will hear from Warm Springs Ventures, Warm Springs Power Enterprise and Composites.
  • The last Warm Springs Outdoor Market of the year is today in front of the Community Action Team office, on campus 10am until 3pm!
  • A senior citizen fitness class is held Monday, Wednesday & Friday at 10:45 at the Senior Building. After class, participants can eat brunch. Today’s meal will be Hot Roast Beef Po-Boy Sandwich with sautéed Veggies and Fresh Peaches.
  • There is a Behavior Health Walk-In Clinic today – appointments are available between 1 and 5pm. The Medical Social Workers at the clinic can help with screenings, assessments, crisis intervention and many other things for children, adolescents and adults.
  • The Jefferson County Library Film Center will show “The Wife” starring Glenn Close Friday evening at 7:30 at the Rodriguez Annex in Madras.  The film is rated R.   Films are free and refreshments are available.
  • The Sunnyside Road Grade, Relay & Pedestrian Project is underway. Sunnyside Drive is closed from Tmsh Street to Upper Dry Creek Road. Contact Ben Bisland 541-553-3207 if you have questions.

The Madras Farmers and Artisans Market is tomorrow from 9am to 2pm at Sahalee Park.

There is a fundraiser for the Warm Springs Police Department D.A.R.E. program on Saturday September 28th.  It’s a Car, Truck & Bike Show at Indian Head Casino from Noon until 5pm.  They will have Food, Music and Fun with all proceeds going to D.A.R.E.

The Johnson O’Malley Committee for Warm Springs Families is now accepting Applications for the fall activity allowance.  This can be for activities such as Rodeo, Dance, Sports, Camps, etc.  You can pick up an application at the Higher Education Office upstairs at the Education Building or online packets can be downloaded at www.kwso.org.  The deadline to apply is Monday September 30th.

All expectant families and families with newborns 1-3 months old are invited to the Community Baby Shower. It is a free event with gift bags, free raffles, light refreshments, and activities to celebrate new moms. There will be one on Friday October 18th from 11am to 2pm at the Museum at Warm Springs and one in Madras on October 19th from 11-2:00 at the Performing Arts Center.

Central Oregon Thrive connects individual needs to community resources.  They can help with housing, health, employment, social security and more.  THRIVE is in Madras on Tuesdays at the Jefferson County Health Department from 10am until 1pm and again from 2-4pm.  30 minute walk in meetings are available – first come, first served

A Jefferson County Victims Assistance advocate comes to Warm Springs on the third Wednesday of every month at the Victims of Crime Services office located at 1108 Wasco Street. Folks can get help with things like case assistance, paperwork, and other resources. Appointments can also be made for other times. For information call Ken Clark 541-475-4452 or VOCS 553-2293.

The Recovery Never Ends Family Conference is next Thursday, Friday and Saturday at HeHe Longhouse. All are welcome to attend at no cost. There will be speakers, support groups, camping, music, Wellbreity, sweathouse, a powwow and they will join in the Hands Across the Deschutes Bridge event on Saturday morning.
