The Simnasho & Seekseequa District Meetings are tonight for Tribal Council nominations.  Dinner is at 6 and meetings start at 7.  The Simnasho Longhouse and Seekseequa Fire Hall are the locations for tonight’s meetings.  Agency District nominations were made last week.  No information yet on if a primary will take place for the Agency District – a motion that was approved last Wednesday at the Agency District meeting.  Tribal Council Elections are April 4th, 2019.

A 21-year-old Madras man is recovering at St. Charles Bend after being stabbed several times during an assault early Sunday in downtown Madras.  According to KTVZ – Detective Sgt. Steve Webb released initial details Sunday evening on the attack, and while no information was made public about any suspect or suspects, he said police had “determined there is not a current threat to public safety.”   Anyone with information that could help police investigators is asked to contact Webb or Officer John Slyter through Frontier Dispatch at 541-475-2201.

The 7th Annual Warm Springs Cougars Christmas Coed Basketball Tourney was held this weekend at the Community Center.  In the 10 and Under Division the champions were the “Little Tigerz” from Warm Springs.  RunnerUps were “Misti’s Team” from Warm Springs.  Fainlists included Burns and the Warm Springs Cougars.  In the 12 and under Division the champs were the team from Burns.  RunnerUps were the “Tigerz.”  Finalists were the “Squatch Hunters” and “Mysti’s Team.”

At the Les Schwab Holiday Tournament at Marshfield High School over the weekend the Madras Lady White Buffalo Hoopsters came away with 2 out of three wins.  On Thursday they lost to Philomath and then bounced back for victories over North Valley and Junction City.  The girls are off until December 27th when they will participate in the Summit High School Tournament in Bend.

The Madras Boys basketball team travels to Seaside this week for a holiday tournament this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  They will also compete at the Summit Tournament in Bend after Christmas.
