A peaceful demonstration was held along the Deschutes River on the Warm Springs Reservation on Friday (9/2/16) evening in support of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe – against the Dakota Access Pipeline in North Dakota. Monday morning (9/5/16) the Warm Springs Nchi’ Wanapum Canoe Family began a trip to North Dakota to join up with other Canoe Families from the Northwest. The “Paddle to Standing Rock 2016” will travel down the Missouri River this week. They will stay at the encampment near Cannon Ball, North Dakota.
